Q:Hello, I need to buy insurance for 45 days (initial period of my J1). Minimum requirements for health insurance are these. Minimum Required Coverage: 1. Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness; 2. Deductible that does not exceed $500 per accident or illness; 3. Co-insurance paid by J-1 not to exceed 25% of covered benefits per accident or illness; 4. Minimum repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000; 5. Minimum medical evacuation expenses in the amount of $50,000. I am planning to take Patriot platinum America plan. Can you please tell me if that plan covers my minimal requirements? I am not able to see all the details in your website. Please respond as soon as you can. I need to take insurance today.

A:
You can purchase J1 Visa Medical Insurance. All of the plans in our J1/J2 section will meet the standard J1 requirements. You can purchase Patriot Platinum America Plan. The Patriot Platinum America Plan is listed in our J1 section and therefore will meet all standard requirements, which you have listed.

Q:I will be working at University of Southern California with J-1 visa (research scholar). I will be enrolled in a health insurance provided by USC, but repatriation and medical evacuation is not covered by the school's plan. I was wondering if Atlas MedEvac meets the below requirements regarding the underwriting company. Is Atlas MedEvac underwritten by an insurance corporation with ratings higher than the following standards?

A:
Atlas MedEvac does meet the below requirements. This plan is specifically for someone who has domestic insurance through their university, but which of course will not include the medical evacuation and repatriation benefits a J1 must have. You can purchase Medical Evacuation and Repatriation Insurance.

Q:I am looking to purchase Medical insurance for my son who will be studying between Aug 26th 2019 and June 30th 2020 in the US. I have spent some time looking at the options on your website and believe that Patriot Exchange policy is appropriate for his time in the States. I am likely to set the cover at $250,000 and the deductible at $250 However, my son is a keen snowboarder and rugby player and I am unclear whether these sports ARE covered under the normal policy. 1. My reading of the policy documents leads me to believe that recreational skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling ARE covered but that off piste or activities in non marked or out-of-bounds areas ARE NOT. 2. I also understand that we can apply the "add on" option which would cover him for collegiate organised sporting activities but my reading of the wording is that this does NOT cover contact sports like Rugby or Ice Hockey? However, when I look at the Adventure Sport Rider option the sports listed do not include the likes of Rugby which is a sport he is keen to continue whilst in the States. Please can you confirm whether a Patriot Exchange policy WITH both Add on AND Adventure sports will give him the needed cover?

A:
If your son will be playing Rubgy and Skiing he would be covered for skiing under the Patriot Exchange Program as long as it is not off Piste and is within marked territories. There is plan called Diplomat America that he can purchase to cover him while playing Rugby however if there are specific requirements that you are looking to meet you can send them to review to see if this plan would be sufficient. You would have to add on the high option sports rider to the plan in order to have coverage while play Rugby. If not you would be purchasing this plan in addition to the other plan so that he would have coverage for Rugby.

Q:I'd like to find out if there is a network of service providers that we are limited to use under this Exchange Guard cover? I inquired about visiting the local dentist and was told that it was not accepted.

A:
The plan that you have is a medical insurance plan. It does not include dental coverage, however, it does provide a benefit for acute unexpected pain of a natural sound tooth up to $300.00, and covers for accident related emergencies up to the policy maximum. If the services provided were neither of the above, there would not be coverage. If the dental visit was pertaining to one of the above coverages, you would simply visit any provider, pay for the services at the time of the appointment, and file the claim yourself for any applicable reimbursement. You can locate claim forms for your policy through My Account on the Insubuy website.

Q:I am an international student who will be starting school at the University of Arizona this coming fall semester. I am contacting to ask if there would be an insurance that meets all the health coverage guidelines required by the university. I have attached my university's health coverage guidelines below.

A:
We will not have a plan that will meet the school's requirements. The only coverage we are aware of that would be available to an International student (F1 visa holder) that would meet the requirements, is the plan being offered through the school as the requirements state benefits that only a domestic insurance plan offer. The only place an F1 can obtain domestic insurance is through their school.
