Q:Please explain coverage of visitors insurance and the difference between visitors insurance and travel insurance

A:
There are two different plans that we offer on our website. Visitors Insurance, or Travel Medical Insurance, is generally only meant to offer coverage for medical expenses due to new injuries or illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy, and have minimal, but some, travel benefits. No visitor insurance plans are going to cover for preventative, routine, known or expected care of any kind. You can look at Visitors Insurance Types for more information on the difference between Fixed plans and Comprehensive plans. Trip Insurance, sometimes referred to as Travel Insurance, is only available to US residents, and can offer coverage for the non-refundable costs of your trip if it were to be canceled due to a covered event (i.e. medical reasons, work layoff, natural disaster). These plans can also offer coverage for unexpected medical expenses for new injuries or illnesses should they arise on your trip. You can take a look at Trip Insurance VS Travel Medical Insurance to look at a side-by-side comparison. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I want to know if I am here on a M1 visa which is the non-immigrant visa for non-academic studies (8 months) can I opt in for a visitors insurance?

A:
Yes, you can purchase visitors insurance as an M1 visa holder. If the school or organization does not have insurance requirements that you need to meet, you can run a quote in the Visitors to U.S.A. section to see what plans are available. If the school DOES have insurance requirements, please send those to info@insubuy.com and we will review them and recommend a plan. Patriot Exchange Program is a popular plan for M1/M2 visa holders. This is a student plan that is available to M visa holders. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
