Q:My daughter is going to Oregon State University for 10 months as an exchange student from a University in the United Kingdom, starting from 6th September 2023. Do you have a policy that meets all of the Oregon State University requirements? (ACA compliant, J1 Visa Compliant, no delay on pre-existing conditions (even though my 20-year old daughter does not have any pre-existing conditions), plus maternity!)

A:
None of the plans on our website are ACA compliant. There are no plans on the market for J-1 visa holders that are ACA compliant; you will have to purchase that type of insurance through your school or employer. Some school insurance policies do not offer Medical Evacuation or Repatriation benefits. In this case a student can purchase an inexpensive plan called Atlas Medevac in order to meet the the minimum requirements set forth by the US Department of State for J-1 Exchange Visitors. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:Hi I am traveling to the US in September for 2 months and my wife is pregnant, her due date is in December 2023. But I am worried if she has her delivery before her due date, will there be any medical insurance that would cover my wifes delivery cost in the US.I don't wish to cancel my travel plan as this was booked an year ago.

A:
Unfortunately, there is not a plan that would cover the cost of maternity or delivery related expenses for a visitor. This would be an out of pocket expense.

Q:Hi, is there any visitor's insurance that covers pre-existing conditions? Thanks.

A:
Visitors Protect is the only plan that offers coverage for pre-existing conditions, but it still cannot be known or expected treatment. It also has a 90 day minimum purchase and $1500 deductible built into the plan for anything relating to a pre-existing condition. Additionally, it must be purchased before the insured has left their home country. Other plans do offer the Acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Q:Dear sir/madamI am currently in the process of arranging insurance coverage for my J1 visa program, which is expected to last for 2 years. I am a 33-year-old from Iran, planning to do my program at Temple University in Philadelphia. My organization requires a full coverage insurance plan for the entire duration of my program. However, upon visiting your website, I noticed that the maximum duration offered for insurance plans is 12 months.I am reaching out to inquire if there is a solution to extend the coverage period beyond the 12-month limit to meet the requirements of my program.additionally, I was wondering if it is possible to change the start and end dates of the coverage in case of a delayed visa procedure. Thank you for your consideration and assistance.

A:
Due to your home country being Iran, and your status as a J1 visa holder we will not have any plans available to you. If you have any additional questions please call our office at 1(866) INSUBUY (4678289).
