Q:Fiance visa insurance for HIV+ My fiance is HIV+ and I need insurance. The clinic in NM is doing research, and their services are mostly subsided so my fiance wont need to pay much. The insurance wont need to pay anything since i will have insurance which doesnt cover pre-existing conditions. Only what i need is they should state. That is what the embassy need to give me a visa. I need just 3 month travel insurance, there after my fiance insurance will take care. I hope they will consider that, looking forward.

A:
Please ask the consulate specifically whether they need the insurance to cover HIV or not. I called the embassy to ask, the woman on phone told me, the most important thing they need is Once i bought the insurance, to send them a letter from insurance which tells they are aware of my condition. the lady seem to understand when i asked about the pre-existings, she said she know that i have to be covering privately. I asked if i should send insurance papers to them, she said no they need just a letter from insurance. though she was not the one having final say, the papers will go to CDC. hear soon I checked with several insurance companies and no one is willing to provide such a letter.

Q:I also accidentally asked this on the other board but have more information on this one. I am trying to determine which health insurance I should get for later this year. I am from and am a resident of Ireland. 35yrs old with no pre-existing illness. I am looking for a comprehensive plan that will also cover completely just as good at home as it will worldwide including north America. I plan to take a year off and have various trips I want to do. maybe in total I estimate 7 months in Canada/America 1 month in Europe and 4 months at home in Ireland between all my trips. Any suggestions? Do I really need comprehensive or would a fixed plan be better since I would only figure to be covered for severe accidents or severe illnesses. But then again a severe illness/accident in while in the US could be very costly right? Am I guessing some sort of expatriate plan? One more question. In Ireland do you have a PPO network or preferred list of hospitals/doctors you use?

A:
You can look at expatriate health insurance There is no PPO network concept outside the USA and you can visit any provider.

Q:Urgent help..Eye Insurance Please help me. I need eye insurance for my father. please suggest me good eye insurance. I would appreciate your quick reply. Thank you!

A:
What exactly do you mean by eye insurance? Please provide more details here or call (866) INSU-BUY. Doctor detected daibetes in my father & he asked to check his eyes too. He wants to make sure his eyes are ok with high sugar. I took an appt with eye doc but I don't have eye insurance. Unfortunately, its too late. That condition will be considered as pre-existing condition and not covered by any insurance. It is not pre existing condition. he got joint pain so took him to doctor, they took his x rays, blood test & found out that his sugar level is high & he is diabetic. this got detected here in US . At any point of ur life u can have this...right ? If it detected here , just last ( he came here 3 months back) so how can it be pre existing ? Please help me. Thanks !! Pre-existing condition is not considered with respect to when he arrived in the US. It is considered with respect to when the insurance is effective. Person already has diabetes and you want to buy insurance to get the eyes checked up. That means, the condition occured already and you would like to buy an insurance that is not yet effective. In other words, condition occured before the insurance would be effective. That is why is a pre-existing condition. I already have **** insurance since they came here, and I don't think eye is covered under that. that's why asked is there any insurance for eye ? No. No. Go to the doctor's office along with your insurance in the US and tell them that you need to get your eyes checked. They will talk to the insurance company and they will tell you if your insurance covers it or not. Many times, the eye tests are considered as MEDICAL problems and are included in the insurance. But, some things (like getting new spectacles etc) are considered under VISION problems and may not be covered. So, it is better to check with the doctor's office. you dont need a vision insurance for this test. Since the exam is as a result of an underlying condition not a vision test. I believe the test is for glaucoma it should be covered under regular insurance. I hope you did not make a routing eye exam appointment. For that the fee is usually $50 to $70. As an aside since he is you Dad, if you have Flexible medial account and put aside some money there you can claim all copays etc off of that

Q:Protection America Dear Mr. Kathri I have read your recommendations about Protection America as a good Comprehensive medical insurance policy for parents visiting US. However, when I went to the company's site IMG. it only mentions Patriot America for travel insurance for non-US citizens, there is no mention of Protection America. Is IMG planning to discontinue offering Protection America in the near future. Would appreciate your response. Thanks for all your good work in disseminating insurance related information and insurance purchase-tips. Regards DA Indian

A:
That's not true. Protection America is an enhanced version of Patriot America and is available exclusively through us. e.g., Patriot America is renewable only if you initially purchase for minimum 3 months. On the other hand, Protection America is renewable even if you buy for minimum 5 days. Please read 3rd FAQ at /visitors-medical-insurance/ that answers the same question in more details. If some product were discontinued, we would never offer on our web site and take if off our web site right away.
