Q:Global Medical Insurance - IMG Hello, I was previously insured via your website with a fixed rate expat insurance policy. I think it is Global Basic Insurance (excl. USA & Canada) My premium was $827 for Dec 2006 - Dec 2007 (I am 44yo now). That was fine because I was in Prague, Czech Republic, and the medical fees there are very much less than in the West. However, now I am in Paris, France and I want to have a plan that gives me access to the American Hospital. The cost of visiting a doctor there can be 150 - 250EUR/visit. Additionally i want to be covered at 100% in the event of hospitalization (i can deal with a small co-pay if necessary), and it would be nice if pre-existing conditions are covered. My only pre-existing condition is TMJ joint problem, but I haven't had any problems with that for awhile. No other history of medical issues or hospitalization. I've looked around a bit and I'm worried about a few things. - the dollar is quite weak now, so that is why i need a policy that covers things based on actual cost - some policies, like the Allianz Worldwide Care, or BUPA cost about 3000$/year for a plan that covers hospitalization as well as visits to a physician. Most of the plans you offer seem to be significantly less. Where is the difference? thanks

A:
Please look at Global Medical Insurance - Gold or Platinum at /expatriate-health-insurance/ to get better insurance product compared to Global Basic (Now called Global Medical Insurance - Silver). The reason Global Basic is cheaper than other products (including other products we offer) is because it has sub-limits on many different medical procedures. You can choose either 'WorldWide' or 'Worldwide excluding US/Canada'. Of course, 'Worldwide excluding US/Canada' is cheaper. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hello, Thanks for your message. I was looking at the Global Medical Insurance Gold. Does sub-limits mean there is a maximum payment for those procedures? Who would you recomment that product for as opposed to a more comprehensive package? What products that you offer are comparable to something like the Allianz package? thanks Gold does not have sub-limits that Silver (Formerly Global Basic) has. Silver plan is primarily for the people who travel to or live in places where those sub-limits would be enough. All the plans we offer are at /expatriate-health-insurance/ and you can compare them side by side in details. Unfortunately, I am not aware of the Allianz package. Once you get the material from us (from the web site) and also from them to compare to see which one would be better for you. If you have any further quesstions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Hello again, Thanks for this information. It seems that the Silver and Gold don't cover pre-existing conditions. Is the Citizen Secure plan reliable? It is most likely that i will just need coverage for doctor visits (is that outpatient?) thanks Yes, Citizen Scure is reliable. Yes, Dr visits come under outpatient. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Global Medical Insurance Silver questions 1. I live in Indonesia, and plan to buy Global Medical Insurance-Silver. Say, one day I need to be hospitalized, and I go to hospital in Singapore. Am I covered under the plan? 2. If some one has hypertension and according to literature, hypertension can cause heart attack, stroke, kidney problem, eye problem, and other thousand diseases. Does it mean that if one day he gets heart attack or kidney problem, it is not covered by the plan? 3. Is there any time limit to submit a claim? The claim documents may need 2 weeks to reach the insurance office due to geographic location. Can claim be made on line?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing Global Medical Insurance-Silver. 1. Yes. You can get treated in Singapore. 2. It will be determined by the insurance company's claims department, based on the doctor opinion, attending physician statement and medical records whether something is a pre-existing condition or not. Insurance company will accordingly decide to pay or not. 3. 90 days. Therefore, 2 weeks is not a problem. You can purchase it online at /global-medical-insurance/ Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any other questions.

Q:Long term major medical insurance Dear Reader, I am a French citizen and resident. Can I buy an insurance with worldwide coverage except United States and Canada + a travel insurance to cover me when I come to the States (1-2 months/year)? Best Regards

A:
In your situation, I recommend an insurance that would cover you worldwide including US and Canada so that you have one continuous policy. You can look at various policies at /expatriate-health-insurance/ If you would like worldwide excluding US and Canada, you can buy it on the same place at /expatriate-health-insurance/ Additionally, you can look at travel insurance at https://www.insubuy.com Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Worldwide medical insurance Sirs, Can you please advise health insurance plan options for myself. I am of Canadian citizenship but have been a resident of Indonesia for the past 14 years. My age is 53 and I am single. I'm a non-smoker and never have been. Health is excellent - no known problems. I have no current health plan. I am looking for a plan that will cover me: 1. While i am living here in Indonesia (at least for the next 5 years). 2. Provide medivac to Singapore or Australia for an emergency (accident or urgent operation). 3. Cover me while I travel worldwide for business or for holiday. I generally vacation in Canada for one month per year. I never travel to the USA. 4. Deductable could be around $1000. ($500 and $2000 options). 5. Optional extra cost for coverage when snow skiing. Thanks,

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing health insurance for yourself. Please look at Citizen Secure at /expatriate-health-insurance/ It will cover worldwide. Coverage area options are either worldwide excluding US/Canada, or worldwide. Therefore, even though you will never travel to the USA, you have to choose worldwide because you want coverage in Canada as well. For snow skiing, there is an optional sports rider option. On that web site, you will be able to get all the details, get instant quotes for various deductibles and be able to apply online. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Worldwide cover health insurance Dear Sir/Madam I am looking for full worldwide health insurance to cover myself (a uk passport holder), my partner (a us passport holder) and my soon to be born son (uk passport holder - wil become dual citizen of US and UK within a year). We all reside in the UK for approximately 8-9 months of the year travelling to the USA for approximately 3 months per year. I therefore wondered if we can all be eligible for the same plan or whether we have to go on separate plans. What I need to clarify before I look any further into either plan is exactly what we are covered for especially in terms of the UK and the US as it is mainly in these two countries we currently spend our time. We do travel to other countries also throughout the year mainly for business trips or holidays also. What I also need to know is if under any of the eligibles policies that if any of us needed medical care in the USA then there is a list of PPO network hospitals which should be our first port of call in such a situation - I have looked these up and there are lots all around the country which is great. However as I\'m sure you can appreciate the medical system in the UK is very different to the States. Of course there is the NHS which is obviously our \'free healthcare\' however I need to know if this policy covers private medical care for us all in the UK. Therefore I basically need to know how this policy works in terms of if I become ill in my home country (the UK). What is included in the policy and do I have access to private care hospitals/doctors in the UK, and indeed abroad. For example what is the difference in terms of the UK between what is offered by this policy and for example taking out a UK only policy - forgetting for a moment this includes worldwide cover. Basically would I have to retain my existing UK cover or would this policy be sufficient to cover me in the UK for private healthcare. For example if I sprain my ankle in the UK and need some physiotherapy, would this plan cover me to see a private physiotherapist with referal from my Doctor in the UK? And finally if I did travel to europe or elsewhere in the world, again do these policies allow us access to any private healthcare. I look forward to hearing from you,

A:
You can buy Reside Prime for all 3 of you. However, you can't buy this insurance while you are pregnant. As long as you stay out of US for 6 months for more, it is fine. You can either choose Worldwide coverage or Worldwide excluding US/Canada. In US/Canada: If you go in the PPO network, insurance company pays 100% after the deductible. If you go out of the network, after the deductible, insurance company pays 80/20 for first $5,000 and then 100%. You can search for PPO network at /myaccount/ Outside US/Canada: After deductible, insurance company pays 100%. It is the same coverage in UK or in other places in Europe. You can visit private hospitals, no problem. You can buy it online at /expatriate-health-insurance/

Q:Medical Evacuation Denver Colorado to Morelia Mexico My wife and I live in Denver Colorado and spend the winter in Morelia Mexico. My wife is a Mexican citizen and has Mexican Medical Insurance. If she should get sick while we are living in Denver, are you able to MediEvac her to a hospital in Morelia ??

A:
Medical evacuation plans evacuate to the the nearest facility where adequate care can be given, not to the place of your choice. Therefore, if the person gets sick in Denver, you need to call 911 and get her admitted into the hospital into Denver. From insurance company's point of view, there is no point in evacuating her to Mexico.
