Q:Insurance for missionary network I'm interested in your Global Medical Insurance plans for a missionary network I'm developing. I understand you have an employee group plan, but none of these professionals are technically working FOR us as much as WITH us. Do you offer any group rates for independant workers? Thanks for your help,

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing medical insurance plans. 1. Global Medical Insurance is an individual insurance. However, if you have multiple persons (or families) to be insured and if you have a single payer, we have a list bill system where you just make one payment every month and you can add or delete the insureds appropriately. It is not truly a group plan, but provides a lot of conveniences that come with the group. You can look at GMI at /global-medical-insurance/ 2. Our Mission Plus+ group plan designed for mission sending organizations and their missionaries will require that the missionary is working full time on behalf of the organization. Mission Plus+ does recognize "Associated Representatives" as eligible for the plan and an Associated Representative is defined as: An individual who is not an employee (W-2 recipient) and who is officially affiliated with the Participating Organization whose principal endeavors are to represent, work with, or work for the organization and intending to serve for a minimum of 6 consecutive months. It appears that our definition of Associated Representative may be satisfied based on the comments below but there is something else to keep in mind. Eligibility requires that a minimum of 80% of the eligible Associated Representatives enroll and maintain coverage under an organization's group plan. It has been my experience that achieving this minimum requirement is sometimes difficult in situations where there is no strict employer-employee relationship and the insurance isn't being provided by the organization. That said, we are willing and do provide group insurance in these situations. You can look at the MP+ group plan brochure and find request for proposal form at /missionary-health-insurance/ Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any other questions.

Q:Pregnancy insurance My husband and I are moving to San Diego next march and we are looking to find a nice health plan for us. We are in Brazil now, but we want to decide the better choice as soon as possible, specially because next year we are planning to have a baby in SD. Our scenario: - My husband is 36, Italian, Lawyer - I am 28, Brazilian and PR - For business purposes, we are going to be in US for 6 months, then one month in Brazil, then 6 months in US again, then 1 month in Italy and so on - We are planning to have kids for the next year, maybe or not in US 1) Could you please, indicate to us the best choice? 2) We are also concerned to have good hospital and doctors for the maternity. Is PPO ok? 3) As we do not sure how long we will spend in any place, could you please, let us know the best payment method (monthly)? Thank you for your help. Hope we can do some business.

A:
There is no plan that immediately covers pregnancy, at least a wait of one year after the effective date of the policy. If you are still interested, please look at /expatriate-health-insurance/

Q:GMI Silver Questions . I bought GMI Silver from you. I want to get more explanation of outpatient benefit. It is stated USD 70 per visit, max 25 visit. Is it subject to deductible, as my deductible is USD 1000, does it mean the outpatient benefit is useless? 2. Is it possible to add more member to a family? My husband may want to join under the same policy.

A:
1. Yes, it is subject to deductible. However, deductible is annual (once a year). Therefore, outpatient benefit is still useful. 2. You can't really add the family members (there is no advantage in doing that.) You can buy a new one at /expatriate-health-insurance/ Say, someone goes to doctor (outpatient) 20 times during the year, total per visit is USD 60. Does it mean he can claim the USD 1200 less USD 1000 deductible? Does he need to submit the bill everytime he visits the doctor (even it is only USD 60), or can he accumulates and once it is over USD 1000, submit all documents at once to the insurer? Does the limit including medical prescribed by the doctor? It is really confusing. I need to understand before buying one for myself. Thank you. In that case, the person would get $200 ($1200-$1000). You should submit the bills as and when you use the insurance. Prescription drugs coverage is separate. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Coverage in the US Our permanent residence is in Panama but we spend 5-6 months a year in the US then 3-4 months in Canada and 3-4 months in Panama. Does that mean we will be uninsured for a period of time with your program ? or are we adequately protected since we do not exceed six months in any one country

A:
As long as you choose the coverage as 'Worldwide', you will be covered everywhere in the world as long as stay for less than 6 months in US. You can buy it online at /expatriate-health-insurance/ A few more questions. 1) Maybe I am reading it wrong but it seems that after three years of coverage the lifetime maximum benefit drops by 50% to 2.5 from 5 million. Is that true? 2) It says that Applicants must be outside the US or Canada at the time of application. We left Panama to the US April 7th , entered Canada July 6th and will be here until until Mid October then back in the US until January 8th before going back to our home in Panama. Does this then preclude us from setting this up until we return to Panama ? Our current policy expires October 31 and we were hoping to start even earlier 3) We have one addition (our Nanny) to our family medical coverages that we would like to start right away but are considering allowing our current policy with William K Russell lapse rather than change it half way. Can this be done while keeping the advantages of the group deductibles when application is made at once? 4) Despite your assurances that we are covered if we are less than 6 months in the US, when I read the policy information it says “In addition, the insured person(s) must reside outside the United States and Canada at least 6 months during any given 12 month period to meet the eligibility requirements of an insured person(s). if the insured Person(s) resides in the United States and Canada longer than 6 months during any 12 month period their coverage shall immediately terminate. If you combine the time we spend in Canada and the US it is more than 6 months and the policy reads is a little ambiguous so I want to be absolutely certain we are buying appropriate coverage for our circumstances Sincerely What is the country of citizenship for each person you would like to insure? We all hold Canadian passports and usually use the Canadian passport when traveling but my children and wife have several. My wife was born in Brazil and I was born in Canada but both children were born in Panama which is why it is the way it is. We have taken advantage of all the countries laws to maximize flexibility for our children. My Nanny is Colombian. We are all resident in Panama since 2004 1) wife - Canadian, Brazilian, 2) daughter - Canadian, Brazilian, Panamanian, 3) Son - Canadian, Brazilian Panamanian, 4) Nanny - Colombian Based on the information you provided, I would suggest you ignore the plan 'Reside Prime' and consider other ones such as 'Citizen Secure' or 'Global Medical Insurance', available at /expatriate-health-insurance/ That is because 1. Coverage does not go down after 3 years. 2 & 4. They are only concerned about the time spent in US and not Canada. For non U.S. citizens, even within the US, there is no restriction of spending less than 6 months in the US. As long as you are not eligible for domestic plan, you can continue these plans. To further answer your questions, 3. Nanny can't be included in the same application. You can do one application for yourself, wife and children and another for your nanny. There won't be any difference in premiums anyway. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any other questions.

A:
Please look at Global Medical Insurance at /global-medical-insurance/ That would meet your requirements. Thanks for getting back to me. Can you please confirm that the Global Medical Insurance Gold Option (Worldwide) will cover myself and family for the following before I purchase. Minimum Required Levels of Cover: (while participant is working and travelling in Canada/USA) ¨ The participant is insured from the date of entry into Canada or the US right up to and including date of departure. ¨ Medical Expenses: €2.5 million (EURO) ¨ Personal Accident: €38,000 (EURO) ¨ Repatriation and Medical Evacuation is adequate and provided for the insured within the above Medical Expenses limit. Thanks again, Yes, it meets those requirements. I was attempting to place the insurance policy via the website but I see the maximum length of coverage is 12 months. I require a 19 month cover for the period 09/22/08 to 03/30/10. Can you please tell me how I can go about putting this policy in place and how much it would cost based on the info below? Also can I make policy payments on a monthly basis trather than making one outright payment? If possible can you email through a quotation. You can only buy maximum 12 months at a time and then you can renew it. Yes, you can make monthly payment. The price depends upon your age and the deductible you choose. Please visit /global-medical-insurance/international-medical-insurance/ and put your age etc. information and it will show you various prices. e.g., with $500 deductible, it will cost $280.20/month for all 3 of you. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for your reply - if I have any further questions I will be in touch. If I was to make monthly payments what way can I do this? is it by direct debit? Thanks, It is automatically on your credit card. While applying, just select monthly payment.

Q:Insurance for wife- non citizen Currently have Patriot American insurance for my wife who has just arrived in this country from Vietnam. I am thinking about switching to Global Medical Insurance gold plan. What are the advantages or disadvantages of either. Also what does either offer for prescription services.

A:
Prescription drugs are covered just like any other medical expenses. Patriot America is a short term medical insurance plan, ranging from $50,000 to $1,000,000 Global Medical Insurance Gold is a long term annually renewable major medical insurance with $5,000,000 policy maximum. Eventually, this plan provides a limited coverage for maternity or pre-existing conditions that Patriot America never provides. You can purchase either of them online at https://www.buyimginsurance.com If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
