I would like to purchase a insurance. Today my Friend purchased international major medical schedule insurance for one month. His opt is also still in pending. Is that insurance valid for my visa status because i am neither enrolled full time nor opt approved(application still in pending). Previously i used ISO insurance and my age is 25 years. I appreciate if u can clarify my doubt.

Q:Information for maternity insurance OPT Hello, I am an international student currently working on opt. I want to get an insurance for me and my wife . She is on dependent f2 visa. I was looking for an insurance that covers maternity. Can you please help me find one.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Is the proposed insured already pregnant and needing coverage? Upon providing this information we can properly recommend coverage for your family. No she isn't pregnant. As a being on a dependent visa of an OPT (F visa) student there would not be any plans that we could offer to cover any maternity related expenses. Plans will only cover new accidents and new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. If you are needing maternity coverage it is recommended that if offered, you obtain coverage from your employer as this is the only coverage that would cover maternity for your spouse.

Q:Currently on OPT - Obamacare and Health Insurance I'm currently on OPT (F-1 visa) and I came to the U.S.A on September, 2013. 1) I heard F-1 visa holders (even if you're on OPT) are exempt from holding health insurance requirement (Obamacare) EXCEPT if my yearly income is above the minimum threshold income requirement and I have been staying in the USA more than 5 calendar years. Is this true? 2) I'm currently earning $2700/month (gross income before tax) and I'm pretty sure my income exceeds minimum threshold income requirement. Does it mean I need to have a health insurance in order to prevent a penalty fee for not having health insurance when filing a tax return? 3) If above two are true, do you have a plan that suffices a health insurance with minimum requirement set by government to prevent a penalty fee when filing a tax return? If so, please provide me a link with more details. Thank you,

A:

I am looking to purchase health insurance for myself and my family consisting of; Me - 33 years old non smoker Type 1 Diabetic Wife - 39 years old non smoker no pre-existing conditions Daughter - 12 years old Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Defiiciency Daughter - 4 years old no pre-existing medical conditions I will need to access insulin (Levemir and Novorapid) whilst in the USA and want the policy that will be the lowest cost when purchasing the insulin in USA. My daughter will also need to access inhalers (seretide and ventelin) and again want the policy to be the lowest cost when purchasing the inhalers. Does the platinum policy cover these medication costs after the deductible? What would the deductible be? Please advise on the best policy for me and my family.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The plans we offer would not cover pre-existing conditions or the medications for the pre-existing conditions. You would want to check with your employer to see if they are offering medical insurance for employees and their families. While waiting for your employer plan to begin you can purchase the Patriot America Plus plan as a short term alternative that will cover you and your family for any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date of the policy. More information on the Patriot America Plus including the instant purchase link: /patriot-america-plus-insurance/ If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.
