Q:OPT pending insurance needed Hello, I am an F1 visa international student. Last Month I completed my masters. I did apply for opt. It's (OPT)still in the pending for approval. I would like to purchase a insurance. Today my Friend purchased international major medical schedule insurance for one month. His opt is also still in pending. Is that insurance valid for my visa status because i am neither enrolled full time nor opt approved(application still in pending). Previously i used ISO insurance and my age is 25 years. Q:Currently on OPT - Obamacare and Health Insurance I'm currently on OPT (F-1 visa) and I came to the U.S.A on September, 2013. 1) I heard F-1 visa holders (even if you're on OPT) are exempt from holding health insurance requirement (Obamacare) EXCEPT if my yearly income is above the minimum threshold income requirement and I have been staying in the USA more than 5 calendar years. Is this true? 2) I'm currently earning $2700/month (gross income before tax) and I'm pretty sure my income exceeds minimum threshold income requirement. Does it mean I need to have a health insurance in order to prevent a penalty fee for not having health insurance when filing a tax return? 3) If above two are true, do you have a plan that suffices a health insurance with minimum requirement set by government to prevent a penalty fee when filing a tax return? Q:Green card holder insurance questions Hello, My Parents are currently US ( Arrived in March 2016) and received their Green Card about 2 months ago. Fathers Age : 74 and Mothers Age : 69. We didn't had any medical insurance for them since their arrival in US and luckily we didn't had any medical need for them since March. Just to secure remainder of their stay. we would like to buy an medical insurance for both of them. They are intend to stay in US till end of October. Q:L1/L2 visa insurance questions pre-existing conditions Dear Insubuy I have been directed towards your site by a couple of friends who work in USA and are originally from UK. I am working in USA on an L1A visa from September (my family will be on L2 visas). I am looking to purchase health insurance for myself and my family consisting of; Me - 33 years old non smoker Type 1 Diabetic Wife - 39 years old non smoker no pre-existing conditions Daughter - 12 years old Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Defiiciency Daughter - 4 years old no pre-existing medical conditions I will need to access insulin (Levemir and Novorapid) whilst in the USA and want the policy that will be the lowest cost when purchasing the insulin in USA. My daughter will also need to access inhalers (seretide and ventelin) and again want the policy to be the lowest cost when purchasing the inhalers. Does the platinum policy cover these medication costs after the deductible? What would the deductible be? Please advise on the best policy for me and my family.
