Q:I will be flying to Argentina on January 12th 2020 from Cancun, Mexico and will be boarding a cruise ship to Antarctica (Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctic Peninsula) on January 16th to 31st. I am looking for an emergency evacuation insurance from the cruise ship in case of medical emergency. I believe that evacuation from a ship needs to be done by helicopter. I haven't been able to find the specifics about emergency evacuation in your general conditions. I have followed the Cruise ship insurance link but it seems to bring to a regular travel insurance, without any referral to cruises. Could you please send me detailed info and general conditions of your cruise ship insurance, clearly defining if helicopter evacuation is included? I am an Italian citizen, legally residing in Mexico.

A:
Travel medical insurance plans will also provide coverage during a cruise as well as emergency medical evacuation and repatriation. Medical Evacuation is the benefit which provides coverage for transportation charges (including via helicopter) associated with either evacuation to the nearest qualified medical facility or repatriation to the country of residence. You may learn more information regarding this benefit by viewing the certificate wording. If you are primarily concerned with having the medical coverage we would recommend a plan like the Patriot International. If you would like a plan that includes the medical coverage, but also would like to insure non-refundable your trip cost in the event you are unable to travel due to a covered reason we would suggest the Safe Travels Multinational Trip Protection plan. Please use the links provided below to view the plan details: Patriot International Trip Insurance If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:My parents initially came from India on January 13th 2019 and at that time they had visitor coverage till July 2019. But in May 2019 they had to go back to India and returned to US on June 8th 2019. When they returned to US we thought that there last insurance is valid till july 2019 and we will renew it in July but when we contacted insurance to renew it we were told it can not be renewed while you are in US moreover since they left US in May, the insurance got terminated the day they left US in may 2019. After that we thought that whenever they will go back and come again they will buy insurance but I applied for their Green card while they are here and we know that they are not going back anytime sooner that is why we are looking for insurance.

A:
Based on their pending status we would recommend plans from the New Immigrant section of our website. These plans will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. No short term plans will cover pre-existing conditions, preventative care, or routine maintenance. If you have additional questions about the plans please feel free to contact our office.ytime sooner that is why we are looking for insurance.

Q:I am a US citizen living in Croatia. I am also a Croatian citizen and I am covered by insurance in Croatia. I will be coming to the USA to visit using a US Passport. My three children (ages 7, 5 and 3 years old) will also be with me. They also have dual citizenship and will use their US Passports. My husband will also be with us, but he is NOT a US citizen and will use his Croatian passport. The HOME COUNTRY for all 5 of us is Croatia and we are all covered by Croatian medical insurance. I know that we will not be covered by our Croatian medical insurance because we are entering the US with US passports. Which insurance would best cover each of us if we have any emergency medical needs? I assume my children and I would have one insurance and my husband another. Or can we all be on one insurance plan? We will be in the US for 22 days.

A:
We would be glad to assist. You would want to look at our Visitors to the U.S. plans You will have to have 2 separate plans due to the different citizenship. You and your children will be on 1 policy together as you will need to list United States as citizenship within the quote screen. You will use the same link to obtain a plan for your spouse, however, listing Croatia as country of citizenship. Anytime there is dual citizenship and one of the citizenship is U.S.- they are considered U.S. citizens for insurance purposes. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I previously purchased Major Medical insurance offered by Petersen International through insubuy. Since that time my status in the US changed. I purchased the insurance plan when I was a student on F-1 visa. I recently became a permanent resident in the US. Do you offer any plans for permanent residents that I can switch to? I can purchase insurance through my employer, but I wanted to check with you first to see if there were other options available.

A:
If you are eligible for domestic insurance, that would make you in-eligible for our plans. If you were to enroll into one of our plans and be eligible for domestic insurance, any claims filed would be denied. If you are eligible for domestic insurance, you would need to enroll into it. Open enrollment is going on now through the deadline date of Dec. 15th. You would have to contact them by Dec 15th to be able to get a plan for 2020. International Major Medical
