Q:Schengen insurance requirement I am a US green card holder and am looking to purchase international travel insurance to apply for a Schengen visa entering from France. Per guidance on the France Consulate below- "Please check carefully whether your medical insurance will pay directly the providers in the Schengen countries for emergency medical expenses, emergency hospitalization and repatriation for medical reasons or death. We invite you to have a letter from your insurer indicating that payments will be made directly to the provider (Schengen States or worldwide)." Can you please confirm that in the insurance letter you provide it will specifically state that the insurance will pay directly to the providers in the Schengen countries? Thanks.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. We provide many insurance plan for Schengen visa. Keep in mind that PPO network concept is only in US. Outside USA there is no PPO network. So no insurance company will give you in writing that it will be always direct payment through insurance company. Link for all the Schengen visa insurance, /schengen-visa-insurance/ Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. Thanks for the quick reply. I have copied below the medical insurance requirement from the Consulate General of France in Houston website and the requirement I mentioned are in red. How would you suggest to fulfill this requirement if I were to purchase insurance from your website? I assume this has been a standard requirement. Proof of medical coverage abroad (from Consulate of France website) When the visa section requires proof of medical coverage, you must present a written document for your insurance company that indicates coverage of EACH of the following requirements: - The coverage is valid for the Schengen States or valid worldwide; - The insurance policy covers repatriation; - The insurance covers urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospitalization or death; - The minimum coverage amount is 50,000 US$; - The document indicates your full name as the insured person, and the effective dates of medical coverage. Please check carefully whether your medical insurance will pay directly the providers in the Schengen countries for emergency medical expenses, emergency hospitalization and repatriation for medical reasons or death. Many US medical insurance companies reimburse the costs of emergency medical treatment abroad but do not pay directly the providers. These policies will not be accepted as proof of medical insurance. We invite you to have a letter from your insurer indicating that payments will be made directly to the provider (Schengen States or worldwide). If your US medical insurance company does not make direct payments to the provider, you can purchase international travel insurance online. The Consulate will request the letter from the insurance company with all the above requirements. The Consulate does not accept insurance cards or insurance booklet, and will require a written document from the insurance company, indicating all the above mentioned requirements. Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Based on the information provided below we would recommend purchasing the Patriot America Plus plan. Please use the link provided below to review the plan details and purchase. You may also purchase over the phone by contacting our office at (866) INSUBUY. If you have any additional questions please let us know. The Patriot America Plus plan does have a PPO network. Providers can bill the insurance directly however direct billing is solely based up on the provider. If you visit an in-network provider more than likely these providers will bill the insurance directly as direct billing is one benefit of choosing a plan with a PPO network. If you have any additional questions please let us know. I have also included a link to an FAQ which would answer additional questions regarding the direct billing process. Cashless Visitors Insurance In- Network Claims Please contact our office if you have any additional questions.
