Q:We are new US permanent residents and green card holders. I've purchased an International Major Medical policy for me and my child. I was about to do the same for my husband, but I noticed that it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. He suffers from seasonal allergy and asthma during the spring, but he has been well in the last 6 months: he didn't see a doctor for this problem in the past 6 months, but he always travels with emergency medicines just in case... Would this be considered pre-existing conditions, in regard to International Major Medical? Are there other insurances suitable for him, permanent resident with green card?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. International Major Medical plan covers new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the eff. date of the policy. It does not cover pre-existing conditions. His allergy will be considered as pre-existing conditions. If you want to cover his existing conditions, you can enroll him under Obama care plan during open enrollment period.

Q:I am interested in purchasing the above travel insurance policy. However, there is a certain doubt that I wish to clarify: 1. On your form you ask for the Trip Purchase Date. 2. I am putting together the trip from various hotels, airlines and travel agents.(I am travelling to South America and Antarctica via Europe). 3. Therefore there is no one particular Trip Purchase Date. I have not completed the purchases of the Trip. 4. I bought the first part on 13 Sept 17, and thereafter purchased other parts in bits when opportune. I am continuing to purchase other parts. However in your certificate and brochure you refer to "FINAL TRIP PAYMENT" Can you therefore advise the "Trip Purchase Date".

Q:I'm hoping you can help me choose a plan for my fiance'. She is a female, 38 years old, citizen of Japan and will move to the US this November 1 under a fiance' visa which means she will not have a US green card or US residency until around March 2018. Would her immigration status affect her qualifications for health coverage? We'd like to have coverage for her in the US from Nov. 1 for at least one month until we figure out a longer term plan for her. We'd like the option to renew the health plan.

A:
Please review the following link for more information on the Patriot America Plus plan that is available for an individual arriving on a fiance' visa. This plan will cover the new accidents and new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. This plan would be available until she is eligible to be enrolled under your employer sponsored plan or and individual ACA compliant plan. As this plan is not ACA compliant it will not stop any penalties assessed by the government for not having a compliant plan if and when required. Q:Hi, Could you please confirm that a dependent (ie. my wife) of international student at an university is eligible to apply for Atlas America insurance plan below? My wife is considering application to the plan from December 15, 2017 to August 31, 2018 to fulfill the requirement as a J2 visa holder, which means that she is staying in the US as a dependent of me, who is studying currently at the University of Chicago Graduate School (August 2017 to July 2019). She is not going to work as a full timer in the US. She is not pregnant but is thinking about leveraging the complication of maternity coverage of the plan. I, her husband, am considering a different plan which is required by the university and do not intend to enroll in this Atlas America plan. Thank you very much for your support.

A:
Yes. You can purchase Atlas America plan for your wife who is on J2 visa. Insurance will pay for any new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. Insurance will not pay for any pre-existing, preventive card and maternity. However, plan provides coverage for complication of pregnancy up to 26 wks and acute onset of pre- existing conditions. Please review the plan details and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. If you provide her age, travel date, which state do you need coverage and will be glad to send you quote by e-mail also.
