Q:Hi I'm British (based in the UK) and so is my father. I'd like my father to visit Florida with me in April and was considering taking out a visitors health insurance policy with you to cover his 11 day visit. My father does have a pre-existing condition. He has had 2 heart attacks (the last was about 6 years ago) and suffers from angina. He takes medication to control this condition, though he does visit the gym every day and lost a lot of weight following his heart attacks.

Q:I want to understand what it means. For e.g. if someone has a high blood pressure then the policy doesn't cover treatment of high blood pressure. Is that what you mean by pre-existing conditions are excluded?

A:
Your understanding is correct in your father's case. There is no short term insurance for an international visitor which covers routine dr. visit, checkup, preventive care, medicine or blood test etc. for the existing conditions. However, some plan covers acute onset of pre-existing conditions below age 70. Your father will not be eligible for that benefits. Insurance will pay for whatever treatment medically necessary as long as it's not pre-existing or preventive care. However some plan has acute onset of pre-ex below age 70. Q:My family will be visiting me in USA and I am planning to buy travel insurance from your website Insubuy for all my family. My dad and my mother will be in the States for 1 month and my two sisters for 2 weeks. My question is in particular for one of my sisters. She will be between 10-12 weeks of pregnancy when she comes to USA. I read in your website that there are 2 insurance that covers the first 26 weeks of pregnancy, in particular cover complication of pregnancy. The insurance listed in your website is "Atlas America Insurance" and "Visit USA-HealthCare". I was wondering which one would you all recommend, and how I can purchase this for my sister. Would it be better to call you or use the website?

A:
We recommend the Atlas America plan for your sister since it is renewable and the Visit USA is not. You can call our office or purchase online, either way it will be the same process same cost. If you have additional questions you can contact our office as well.

Q:I would like to buy insurance package for my father. He's going to visit USA within 2 weeks. I found on the website 2 options: International including USA and USA and during travel. What I understand is that the insurance will cover when he travels outside of his citizenship country, during time he stays and travels in USA for the first option, and the second one is only covering during time he stays and travels in USA, not as he travels internationally to USA. Can you confirm if my understanding is correct? Thank you so much!

A:
The options International including USA and USA and during Travel are only use for purposes of filtering the plan options in your search. Your understanding is exactly correct as the plan will cover the insured anywhere outside of the country of citizenship. If you need any further assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q: My parents are visiting me in California this year from India for around 6 months. My father is 73 years old and my mother is 69 years old. My father has preexisting conditions such as blood pressure and diabetes. What insurance do you recommend for them and what are the premiums?

A:
We are a broker and offer all of the major plans on the market. These plans are designed to cover only any new illness, injury or accident which occurs after the effective date of the policy. They will not cover pre-existing conditions, routine doctors visits, immunizations, or medications which are in relation to a pre-existing condition. There are two different types of plans either fixed or comprehensive. The fixed plans are less expensive, and will pay a fixed amount as per the schedule of benefits. The comprehensive plans which would recommend will pay a percentage of the cost after your deductible amount. In order to recommend the appropriate plan we will need more information. Can you please state your parents visa status, and also the dates you would the coverage to start and end? You may also obtain a quote by contacting our office at (866) 467-8289. If you have any additional questions please let us know. Visitors Insurance
