Q:I am an international student on F-1 visa at Northeastern University (Boston, MA) and I was wondering if the insurance plans listed on your web site will meet all of the requirements of my school. You can see the requirements below. I may not waive the Northeastern University Student Health Plan unless I am covered by an insurance plan based in the United States fully compliant with the Affordable Care Act and that meets Massachusetts State Requirements. Short term medical plans and travel insurance plans are not comparable. My current insurance plan: Provides access to local doctors, specialists, hospitals and other health care providers in emergency and non-emergency situations in the Boston area. Provides coverage for inpatient and outpatient hospitalization in the Boston area. Provides coverage for lab work, diagnostic x-rays, physical therapy and chiropractic care, emergency room treatment, ambulance services, and prescription coverage in the Boston area. Provides coverage for inpatient and outpatient mental health, substance abuse and counseling services in the Boston area. Looking forward to hear from you.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Based on the below requirements we would recommend purchasing from your University directly. Unfortunately, there will be other options available since you need a plan which meets the Affordable Care Act. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am looking to confirm if any of your policies match my schools minimum requirement for health insurance. I am an F1 student. MASSACHUSETTS UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE STANDARD Determining comparable coverage requires comparison of cost-sharing levels (deductibles and coinsurance) and access to In-Network Providers. The level of benefits should meet or exceed the benefits provided through the Student Health Insurance Plan. Coverage is considered comparable if it provides students with access to a range of services in and around the area where they attend school. Services include, but are not limited to, preventive and primary care, emergency care, surgical care, inpatient and outpatient hospitalization benefits, lab work, diagnostic x-rays, physical therapy and chiropractic care, prescriptions, and mental health and substance abuse treatment. Also, consider the amount of your current plan's deductible and In- and Out-of-Network coinsurance to avoid high out-of-pocket costs. Students should be able to seek these services from providers who are considered In-Network or Preferred. If your current plan is an HMO, it is very likely that coverage is limited, or not available, outside of the HMO's service area. Plans that only provide emergency services in the campus area are not considered comparable.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Unfortunately, available plans will not be comparable since the plans offered are not ACA plans. Since what you have provided is not a waiver form we cannot say for sure that is what they require. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
