Q:Hi, I will be traveling to US for 3 months on a j1 visa. My wife and children are coming on a J2 visa. As such they are required to procure health insurance. My wife however is currently 9 weeks gestation. Could i enquire if there are any health insurance which provide pre-natal coverage? We are planning to return to Singapore sometime in 27/28 week so there is no need for birth delivery.

A:
Unfortunately, there would not be such coverage available in the plans. We would recommend adding her to a domestic plan if you are able to. If you are looking for a plan that will allow for the coverage for new illnesses and injuries, you may view and quote plans in the J1/J2 Exchange Visitor Insurance section of our website. Should you have additional questions you may also call us at +1 (866) 467-8289.

Q:I work for a biotech company and I am looking for medical insurance to cover the costs for the patient (child under 12) and family members who travel with the child. Do you have a policy that would covered preventative medical costs (vaccinations, wellness checkups) for the child and family members. The child has an underlying condition of methylmalonic acidemia and I would anticipate that there would be no coverage for the pre-existing condition. They would be relocating to Pittsburgh PA. The entire duration of the study is 13 weeks. They would be staying for 8-12 weeks and then return every three months for follow up visits.

A:
No such plan would exist for a visitor to the United States. If you are looking for coverage for new illnesses and injuries that are contacted after the effective date of the policy you may view and quote plans in the Visitors to the USA section of our website. Should you have additional questions you may also call our office at +1 (866) 467-8289.
