Q:My son is an international student in Tampa, FL and is provided insurance through his school. He needs additional coverage for ski and snowboarding trip with friends and I would like for him to be covered in case of injury

A:
Based on the information provided , adding the adventure sports rider to either plan would allow coverage for recreational skiing and snowboarding. Immediately after purchase you will receive an email confirmation with links to download the ID cards. They physical documentation will be mailed to the address listed on the application and received within 7 to 10 business days. As an F1 student he is eligible to purchase either plan as long as he has not had a previous domestic insurance in the U.S. If so, I would recommend purchasing the Student Secure plan which also provide the sports coverage you are looking for. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:What is the best global/international medical insurance? Hi. What is the most comprehensive individual-policy medical insurance that includes prescription drug coverage? I want to teach English in China someday and it depresses me that I won't be able to retain my job's medical insurance for USA coverage. I'd have to purchase my own. I'm afraid that I might get a plan that won't cover important things if I get sick. Posting this under China as I know there are lots of expatriats on this part of Y/A....

A:
From your post, it is not clear to us where you need the coverage, while you are in China or when you are in USA? How old are you? When do you need the coverage? For how long? What specific things are you worried about that you may not get the coverage for?

Q:Student Insurance - South Carolina University; Columbia. UK Student Hi everyone, I'm having a real problem in trying to get cover for my time in South Carolina later this month. They have their own insurance, coupled with AIG but it's over $900 and I've been told that I can get it far cheaper elsewhere, but it MUST meet their restrictions otherwise I'll be forced to pay twice. I'll be staying from 14th August 2015 until 20th December 2015. Their conditions are: Coverage must allow the insured student to receive services in South Carolina (note â€" these are requirements for all plans according to the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act): Ambulatory patient services Emergency services Hospitalization Maternity and newborn care Mental health and substance use disorder services (including behavioral health treatment) Prescription drugs Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices Laboratory services Preventive and wellness services (to include Dental and Vision) Chronic disease management Pediatric services including oral and vision care Coverage amount of $100,000 per policy year per illness/accident/injury Coverage amount of US $500,000 or greater aggregate per lifetime No pre-existing condition limitation A combined benefit of US $100,000 for medical evacuation and repatriation of remains (for international students) Yearly deductible not to exceed $5,000/individual and $10,000/family per policy year. Additional Requirements for International Students The University-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan through AIG meets all additional insurance requirements for international students and dependents. In addition to the coverage requirements listed for graduate students, international students must have insurance that meets the following requirements: For J-1 exchange visitors and their J-2 dependents, the U.S. Department of State regulations require that the health insurance plan must also meet one or more of the following criteria: Part of a group benefits program offered to enrolled students by a designated sponsor, or A health maintenance organization (HMO) that is federally-qualified as determined by the Health Care Financing Administration (HFCA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, or A Competitive Medical Plan (CMP) as determined by the Health Care Financing Administration (HFCA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, or Underwritten by an insurance company that has an AM Best Company rating of "A-" or above, an Insurance Solvency International, LTD. (ISI) rating of "A-" or above, a Standard and Poor's Claims Paying Ability rating of "A-" or above, or a Weiss Research, Inc. rating of "B+" or above. I have tried contacting the university directly, but they're not able to provide any assistance other than to say that they would need a separate insurance provider to print a letterheaded letter stating that the requirements are covered. I have an F1 Visa. Would anyone be able to give me links to policies which would cover me? I would massively appreciate it. Thanks for your help> J

A:
You will have to really go with university insurance. You are not going to find a compliant product in an individual market.

Q:Visitors in USA - no medical insurance? I have my parents visiting me from abroad and my father needs to go see a Doctor immediately for Heart Condition. He does not have any insurance in US. What can we do? Are the hospitals OBLIGED to see any patient, regardless of coverage? Will I get roped into the whole process? Please guide.

A:
You will have to pay out of your pocket. Healthcare is not free in the US. You will have to pay out of your pocket. Healthcare is not free in the US. Just out of curiosity, because health care is not free in the US, if someone goes into a hospital desperately needing medical attention and they don't have an insurance card will the hospital throw them out on the street to die?
