Q:pre existing coverage are they covered on any plan or not for worldwide travel. Is the insurance I buy valid in multiple countires such as Dominican Republic Costa Rica -Vietnam.Thxs

A:
Where a plan will cover someone would depend on the plan. We do have plans that can cover someone anywhere in the world outside of their home country where they have principle residence. If the travel does not include the U.S., you can find plans here: /travel-health-insurance/ If the travel does include the U.S. then use this link: /visitors-insurance/ Some countries have insurance requirements, so you will want to make sure whatever plan you choose can meet those as well. The plans will not cover pre-existing conditions. Some plans offer Acute onset of pre-exisitng condition coverage. Here is an information link explaining that benefit: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:My parents are visiting the US and applying for green cards. While they wait for USCIS's decision on their green cards application which could take up to a year, what is the best health insurance option for them? I've purchased the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan for them, but it still has many limitations. Is this plan the best option? Thank you very much!

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. Yes, the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan is a recommended option for someone that has applied for their green card. The insureds may have this plan until their green card application is approved. Then they may purchase either a domestic insurance from your states health care exchange or a plan from our new immigrants section until they do become eligible for domestic insurance. The new immigrant health insurance plans will provide similar coverage to the plan you currently have, the primary difference is in the eligibility. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:Can I purchase travel insurance after I have arrived at my destination? A person in our hostel tested positive and I'm concerned.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy. Travel Medical Insurance plans can be purchased even if you have already arrived in your destination country. Please be advised, these types of plans are primarily design to cover you for new illnesses, injuries or accidents that occur or manifest after the effective date of the policy. For many plans, COVID-19 is treated as any other medical expense as long as someone contracts the virus after the effective date. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:What date range should I buy coverage for? Do I start the policy two weeks before my departure date to cover unexpected events? Do I extend it 14 days after the trip ends in case a member in my party needs to quarantine?

A:
You buy coverage for the date you depart and the date you return. For the plans that have quarantine coverage, If quarantined, the quarantine benefit will automatically extend past the expiration date but all the other benefits with expire. For the travel plans, during the time from purchase until departure you may make a trip cancellation claim. Only people who are forced to quarantine may make a quarantine benefit claim; the other people stay at their own cost or return home.
