Q:My mother is 76 years old and arrived in usa from India about 15 days ago on visitors visa for 4 months. I need insurance coverage for her for this period. We currently live in Tacoma in Washington State. 12 years ago, while in India, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer for which she underwent hysterectomy and had uterus surgically removed. Since then she has been cancer free. If she has any similar problems or any other issues related to OB&G while she is here in USA, will it be treated as pre-existing condition? Also, in this situation please advise on the most beneficial plan for her.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. There are several plans that will cover a visitor into the United States for any new accidents and new illnesses. Cancer however is a specific exclusion with all plans that are available on the market. So anything related would not be an expense that would be covered by the insurance. We are happy to recommend plans for coverage for the new accidents or new illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy or an acute onset of a pre-existing condition. If you could please provide the dates of coverage that should needs as well as the visa status that she arrived on we can send you a quote.

Q:I'm about to purchase the Atlas America insurance until August while awaiting for my employer insurance. However, I may travel abroad before August and I just wanted to double-check if that would affect my insurance coverage.

A:
The Atlas America plan will allow for an incidental return to the home country for a maximum of 30 days provided you have been insured for 3 month period on your policy so this would not be a problem for your to visit your home country during this time and your policy still remain active.
