Q:Hi, I'm a doctoral student in Boston, MA. My wife is on F-2. My health insurance is taken care of by the university, but it would be quite expensive for me to also include my wife in that plan. So we are looking for less expensive alternatives. She is healthy, we only need something to cover accidental illness or injury. I heard some good words from some sources about Insubuy, saying that you know what you sell. So I wonder whether you would have some recommendations for us. Thank you very much!

A:
Does the university have any requirements for the F2 or just the F1? If there is no requirements that need to be met then you can purchase any plan from the F1/F2 visa insurance section of our website. We recommend the ExchangeGuard plan. Please keep in mind, these plans are not ACA compliant and do not cover pre-existing conditions, maternity, preventative care, or routine maintenance. Plans will cover any new illness or injury that occur after the effective date.

Q:Good Morning! I am from Texas A&M University. I am looking for an alternative health insurance plan, which is compliant with the university requirement but cheaper than the one provided by the university. Would you mind send me some information about your products?

A:
If those are the only requirements then any plan in the Student Insurance section of our website will meet them as long as you choose a $500,000 policy max. We would recommend the ExchangeGuard plan. Based on the requirements provided you would need to purchase the plan from the university to be able to meet their requirements. They state that the plan has to be PPACA compliant and plans available to purchase on the market are not.

Q:I will be a J1 exchange visitor for almost 4 months. I will come from Europe (Austria) to Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My time period for the insurance is 31 January 2019 - 10 May 2019. I need also medical coverage. My age is 29. In 2017 I had a Patriot Exchange Program Insurance from your company and I was happy with it. I received some documents from LSU where they wrote which are the necessary expenses for which the insurance company should support me. Also they asked me to have a representative of the company signing me the documents. Please find attached the mentioned documents. Could you please tell me if the Patriot Exchange Program that I had in the past includes all the necessary benefits? If yes, I would like to order online the insurance on your website.

A:
Yes, the Patriot Exchange Program does meet the requirements as listed. Once you have purchased the plan you will need to complete your portion of the information on the form and send it as an attachment and we can have the benefits department fill out the rest.
