Q:My wife is travelling to US (New Jersey) to visit our relatives with my daughter for 3 months from UK. I want to buy a Travel + Medical Insurance for them. Here are there details - 1. My Wife : DOB : 15 Jul 1985 Current Medical situation - She has gallstones. She has not had any gallstone attack for last 1 year as she is on a controlled diet. I would like to take a policy that can take care of an emergency rush to the hospital for a pain killer injection in case she gets an attack. 2. My daughter : DOB - 10 Nov 2015 Current Medical situation - No medical problems. I need a policy to cover any sort of illness that can happen to an infant. I am thoroughly confused about which policy should I take for them. Can you please guide me whether I should go for a Fixed Coverage one or a Comprehensive coverage one? And if there is a specific policy that suits the situation, please advise.

A:
The Atlas America plan would be an option for your traveling spouse. Plans will not cover the pre-existing conditions, but will offer coverage for an acute onset of a pre-existing condition. This coverage may be useful for your wife on her travels. For more information about this coverage please see Acute Onset FAQ. This Atlas America plan is a family friendly plan and will cover your daughter at no additional cost with a cover parent on the plan with her. You can use the link to review the plan and to generate a quote for coverage.

Q:I am still trying to understand coinsurance component. For example if I take $50k plan with 80/20 coinsurance and $500 deductible. If first time my claim is $10,500, I am responsible for Deductible = $500 20% of $5k = $1000 and insurance pay $9k . Right If I have second claim for $10k, I am responsible for 20% of $5k = $1000 and Insurance pay $9K. Right?

A:
Everything in your example is correct except for the second visit. Please see the correction to the example listed below. $10,500, I am responsible for Deductible = $500 20% of $5k = $1000 and insurance pay $9k . Right If I have second claim for $10k *On a second claim you have met your deductible and your coinsurance so you will pay nothing on your second claim* so the Insurance pays $10K. I hope this helps please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Q:Can you please let me know what is the max out of pocket for Atlas America and Atlas Premium America? If I take Atlas America in which 20% is co-insurance but I need to know what is the max out of pocket.

A:
As these are short term plans there is not a concept of and out of pocket maximum, that is a concept use within domestic insurance plans. With a short term plan it will cover up to your chosen policy maximum and anything beyond your policy maximum you are responsible for out of pocket whatever that amount would be. The plans will never pay beyond the listed amount of coverage you have purchased after your deductible and coinsurance.

Q:I'm an Italian 21-years old guy affected with Cooley's Anemia. I'm planning to stay in the US for a few months for academic purposes. Does your insurance plan cover blood transfusions and drugs supply?

A:
As we do understand your situation we will not know what plans you would be eligible for without at least knowing your visa status. Different plans with different coverage would be available based upon the individuals visa status. Also, if you know the state you will be visiting in that would be helpful as well as we would not want to recommend a plan that is not available in the country you need it. For general reference no plan will cover pre-existing conditions or regular treatment.
