Q:I have read blogs and learn that no insurance covers visitors already pregnant and are in the US, is it true? I came across an insurance that covers only for unforeseen complications at the time of delivery but I can't find that plan anymore? does any thing like this exist? We are paying for all the tests, regular checks up, for doctor, hospital charges etc. and everything seems to be fine, but my question is, is there any insurance we can take for the unknowns, complications for both mom and the new born?

A:
Arriving on a B2 tourist visa we would recommend the Atlas America plan this plan will cover the new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. The plans do not cover and pre-existing conditions or preventative care or any routine or delivery related expense. However, this plan will cover for the complications of pregnancy up to 26 weeks. But will not cover any thing as it related to the birth or maternity cost of the pregnancy. If you need any further assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q: We are looking to purchase coverage for an upcoming trip to the US and want to make sure your plan covers our family properly. We would like coverage for the following individuals: Me - age 31, US Citizen Spouse - age 29, non US-Citizen (Irish) He will be there on a tourist visa. Our son - 11 1/2 months (DOB July 28th 2016), US and Irish Citizen We reside outside of the US (in Austria) and are traveling to the US. I will be arriving Thursday, July 6th and my husband will be arriving July 11th with our son. We would like the plan to cover us until we leave the US on August 3rd. The plan we were quoted is a Liaison International, but we are open to anything that will cover emergency health care (we do not need preventative care) during our stay.We were quoted a cost of $133 for $100,000 worth of coverage with a $250 deductible. I wanted to make sure that this did indeed cover all of us during the duration of our trip.

A:
The Liaison International plan will cover your and your family during your visit to the United States. As U.S. citizens you and your son could go on to the same policy but with different travel dates this would constitute a separate policy for him. So you are able to purchase the plan for yourself and your family but you would need to purchase separate policies for each of you due to travel date and citizenship differences. If you need any additional information please feel free to contact our office.
