Q:I have an insurance from Insubuy and I have appealed for my Georgia Tech student insurance to be waived but it was denied. I believe my insurance from you is compliant with the requirements of the compulsory student one, please tell me were it fails short.

A:
We have reviewed your schools waiver requirements and see that for a student to waive their insurance, their plan must meet ACA requirements. You will need to purchase insurance through your school, as there are no plans on the market for student visa holders that will meet those requirements. If you need to cancel your policy, you can do so on your MyAccount. If you have any additional questions you can contact our office at 1(866) INSUBUY (4678289).

Q:Hi, I am a Canadian in France on a working holiday visa and I need healthcare that includes preexisting conditions (annual checkups for highrisk HPV and cervical polyps) and pregnancy. I currently have a plan which to my knowledge does not cover these. Would it be possible to convert to another plan which would cover these, and if so which plan and how much would it cost to cancel my current plan and switch to that one Many thanks, Margot.

A:
Unfortunately, there are not going to be any plans in the visitors section that will offer that kind of coverage. You would likely need to pay for that sort of treatment out of pocket. For maternity related expenses, you can run a quote in the Expatriate section of the website. There are some plans that will offer coverage for maternity expenses after a certain waiting period, depending on the plan. These plans can also offer coverage for pre-existing conditions, however a pre-existing condition may be excluded during the underwriting process, so we would not be able to advise if you would receive coverage. If you decide to cancel and purchase a different plan, there is a $50 cancelation fee with your current plan and you would receive a pro-rated refund for the number of days left as long as there are no claims on file. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am relocating to US, California in the month of December on work visa and along with my family. My wife is pregnant and I have 3 year old daughter as well. SO I was curious to know what would be the best package to cover all and how much would it cost

A:
Unfortunately, there are not going to be any plans available that will cover for maternity related expenses. It is recommended to purchase insurance through your employer or purchase a domestic plan if you are eligible to do so. If you would like to run a quote for plans that will cover for new injuries or illnesses that were not present in the body before the effective date of the policy, you can run a quote in the New Immigrants section of the website. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:What is the time frame for purchasing travel insurance after purchasing my plane tickets? In other words, when is it too late to purchase travel insurance?

A:
If you are wanting to insure the non-refundable portions of your trip with a Trip Insurance plan, it is recommended to purchase as soon as you make your initial down payment for your trip. However, you can purchase this insurance at anytime before the departure date, though if anything is already happening that would prevent you from going on your trip, it would not be covered. This type of insurance is only available to US residents. If you are looking for medical insurance for Travel Outside U.S.A. you are welcome to purchase that at anytime. Q:Yesterday I went to ED, I was told there that my check up it will be automatically charged to my insurance account. Is this true?

A:
How a provider handles the billing process will always be up to them. If they decide to directly bill the insurance, they can do so. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:Hi my inlaws are 71 and 72 years old. I see there is acute preexisting benefit but for people below 70-years. Is there any coverage for pre existing condition for seniors above 70 years?

A:
Yes, if you are looking for the Acute onset of Pre-existing Conditions for ages over 70, it is recommended to choose either Safe Travels USA Comprehensive or Atlas America. Safe Travels USA Comprehensive offers an acute onset benefit of $35,000 ($15,000 for cardiac or stroke) for ages 70-89. Atlas America will offer the acute onset benefit to the policy max for ages <80. It is advised to run a quote in the Visitors to U.S.A. section of the website to see what plans are available to you.
