Q:Visitors Coverage.............. Planning to bring our parents for a visit to USA and Canada........ Could you please suggest the best visitors insurance which will also cover med-evac for our Dad (75 yrs) and a good coverage for Mom (61 yrs) as well? Two imp queries: 1. Is blood-work covered in your insurance? Dad needs to get blood-work done every 4 months for his kidney disease. 2. If a doctor prescribes a medication for either of them, will that also be covered? 3. Would we need two separate insurance coverages for both countries (Canada and USA)?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors medical insurance for your parents. 0. Please note the emergency medical evacuation is the transportation to the nearest place where adequate care can be given. If something happens to them, it does not mean it would automatically transport them to India. Please read /emergency-medical-evacuation-to-india/ for more information. 1. Blood-work is covered as long as it is for the new medical condition that occurs after the effective date of the policy. In his case, something that he already needs routinely would not be covered. 2. Again, if it is for a new medical condition that occurs after the effective date of the policy, it would be covered. If they need anything for pre-existing conditions, that would not be covered. 3. You don't have to buy separate insurance plans for US/Canada. We have the plans available that would cover them in both the places. Please visit https://www.insubuy.com and enter the coverage area as 'International Including USA'. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any other questions.

Q:Visitor Insurance For Mother Hi, My mother is 50 yrs old and touch wood is very healthy and never requires to visit any doctors. She would coming to visit me in Des Plaines, IL end of this month. I have already looked up on various options that are available. I was thinking to go for fixed plan coverage. Could you please let me know any drawbacks apart from the limited limit set by the insurance providers?

A:
Fixed coverage plans provide only a limited benefits plan. Therefore, you will have to pay the difference yourself, no matter how high it is. If the fixed coverage plans were enough, there would be no reason for the comprehensive plans to exist as no one would buy them at 2 to 3 times higher price. Please note that the probability of someone getting into a new medical condition is the same for a given age, whether healthy or not, whether you buy fixed or comprehensive or nothing. However, when something happens, how much you are covered is the difference. Therefore, we recommend you to buy the comprehensive coverage plans. At the end, it is your decision as long as you understand both the types of plans and make an educated decision. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or post them here.

Q:Visitor medical insurance - Father In Law My father in law planning to travel from India(Hyderabad) to US ( New York) on July 20 . He is expected to stay 1 month or 2 months based on convenience . He is 55 yrs old. If I take month insurance, can I extend afterwards ? or If I take 2 months , can i get refund if he leaves earlier than expected ? will this insurance covers during travel also ? Which insurance recommanded ? Regards Venu

A:
You can consider purchasing Atlas America Insurance, as long as you buy before he comes to NY. Yes, you can extend it afterwords. If you want to cancel earlier, you can do so and get the refund for unused portion minus $25 cancellation fee, as long as no claims have been submitted since the original effective date. As long as you put the effective date one day in advance of the actual travel date, it will cover during travel also. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Atlas America on paper seems to be a very solid option. I myself have purchased it 3 times. However Insurance is only good when you have to use it. Unfortunately i had a claim of $175 ones. With $100 deductible i only have a claim of $75. They took more than 6 months with more than 20 emails and phone calls. Customer service was absolutely pathetic. Felt like their operations is running from a Garage. BTW, this was for a doctor office visit who is part of their network and did direct billing. Atlas/HCC Medical did not pay and my account went for collection for just $75. This is ridiculous. I am yet to see posting where people have been happy with their claim system.

Q:Coris America-very poor My mother purchased a policy back in Ukraine before she came to visit me in US. The provider is Coris international, with the offices in Miami, Fl, named Coris USA. My mother came down with respiratory symptoms back in Feb 2011.We contacted Coris USA and were referred to an urgent care clinic and were assured that this clinic will accept their letter of guaranteed payment. I have to note that I asked a rep several times if we could go to a regular clinic to avoid extra cost of urgent care visit, but Coris rep Xavier said not to worry about it. When we arrived to a clinic, there were a fax from Coris, but clinic was not accepting it as a guarantee of a payment. We called Coris rep again and again he told us not to worry, pay out of pocket and claim a reimbursement later. We did just what we were told to do. Next day we submitted a claim as were instructed. Well, we never receive the reimbursement ! First we emailed to Coris USA with questions and were given an answer that Florida office will contact insurance company (???) and let us know, but nobody got back to us. Then we started to call, were referred to a claims department- it took us a week to get someone at claims to pick up a phone (it was already May 2011!) and the "claim" lady Antonella told us that we should send her original receipts from the clinic. She could not answer why nobody told us to do that earlier! Anyway, we sent all receipts back in May. And never heard from Coris ever since- not an Email, not a letter, nothing! My conclusion: don't buy Coris Insurance, they just do not provide a service that you pay for- technically speaking, they just steal from you.

A:
We are sorry to hear that. Fortunately, we have many US based visitors insurance plans available.

Q:Visitor Insurance for my Mother Hi, I am shopping for my mother's insurance ,She is 70 years old and I am looking to take a comprehensive coverage. There are a lot of companies out there so it is difficult to make a choice , from customer service and claim settlement point of view which is the best one out there . All your help is much appreciated . Thanks Mandy

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your mother. In comprehensive coverage plans, for the age 70 and above, the main decision factor would be whether you would like to purchase $50,000 policy max or $100,000 policy max. If you have a preference for that, once you let us know, I can guide you appropriately. I am looking to get a comprehensive insurance for $100,000 In that case, you can consider purchasing Patriot Platinum America Insurance. Thanks for responding . Why is this a recommended Insurance as opposed to Atlas ? Also are there benefits of buying it from Insubuy rather than from a any other web site? Thanks For 70+, Atlas America only provides the maximum of $50,000 and you asked for $100,000. The price is the same no matter where you buy the insurance from. The difference is in the service. Look at /visitors-medical-insurance/ We have the largest portfolio of visitors insurance available in the U.S. market. We as a broker work for you and not for any insurance company. Most places are closed at this time of the day, but we are immediately answering your questions. Now, that is service. We help you not only during buying the insurance, but after buying, if you have any claims problem, we provide help as well. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Atlas America on paper seems to be a very solid option. I myself have purchased it 3 times. Q:Claim payment for IMG Visitors Care Hi, I have purchased an IMG Visitors Care insurance for my mom who is visiting the US just now. Last week she developed a skin rash (eczema) due to the cold/dry weather here. I took her to see a Dr who prescribed some lotions for her. She is better now (TG!). I have the Pharmacy receipts, etc and I am ready to submit a claim form. I have a questions that I need your help with: The insurance is obviously in my mom's name, but I paid for the medicines. I am assuming that the payment is made via a check? When I fill in the claim form, will the check be made out in her name? She does not have a bank account here. Is there a way to instruct the insurance company to make the check out to me? How do we cash the check without a bank account? Anyone with similar experience? Thanks Cali

A:
What you are describing is very normal and frequent when children invite their parents to visit them. Wherever you find any space, please write that the check should be made payable to you. And it will be taken care of.
