As an international student my school requires me to have an insurance that has all of the benefits below: Both accident and sickness coverage Minimum benefit $250,000 per policy year A deductible of $500 or less and/or co pay per individual, per year In patient and outpatient, mental and nervous disorder benefits Prescription Drug Coverage Pay benefits worldwide Medical evacuation to one's home country and family reunification of not less than $50,000 Provision for repatriation of remains of not less than $25,000 The student can contact their insurance carrier to see if their policy meets these requirements.

HTH Worldwide's name will change to GeoBlue and will continue to be the recommended vendor for Duke University Sponsored J scholars and dependents not eligible for a Duke Employee Insurance Plan or a Duke Student Medical Insurance Plan (SMIP). The minimum Department of State insurance guidelines and the coverage Duke University requires for a waiver of the GeoBlue Insurance plan are: Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness. Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000. Expenses associated with the medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his or her home country in the amount of $50,000. A deductible not to exceed $250 per accident or illness. Waiting period for pre-existing conditions of 6 months (current industry standard). May include provisions for co-insurance under the terms of which the exchange visitor may be required to pay up to 25% of the covered benefits per accident or illness.
Q:I am a US permanent resident and Iranian citizen. I need an insurance for a trip to Germany and Austria. I have purchased before for Italy. I couldn't find all the benefits required this time in the plans. I need the medical evacuation, repatriation and medical expenses covered. I have used Patriot America before. Please view the list of requirements for health insurance below for my university: University of South Carolina Insurance Requirements To waive out of the university-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan, your health insurance coverage must: -Be effective as of August 1 for the fall term or January 1 for the spring term. -Extend through the semester you've waived out for, including breaks and holidays. -Allow you to receive services in South Carolina. -Give you unlimited aggregate maximum benefit per policy year per covered person. -Not have a pre-existing condition limitation. -Have an out-of-pocket limit per policy year that does not exceed $6,350 per individual and $15,000 per family. -Have a combined benefit of $100,000 for medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. -Provide the Essential Minimum Benefits required by the PPACA with no annual limits. -Contain no exclusions for pre-existing conditions. -Covers 100% of Preventive Care as defined by the PPACA -Required for all plans according to the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act: Ambulatory Patient Services Chronic Disease Management Emergency Services Hospitalization Laboratory Services Maternity and Newborn Care Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Treatments (including behavioral health treatment) Prescription Drugs Preventive and Wellness services (including dental and vision) Rehabilitative and Habilitative Services and Devices Please let me know if you offer comparable plans, I will need coverage for myself (F1 student visa) and my wife (F2 spouse visa), please let me know if you need more information to obtain a quote.
