Q:My wife and I depart on January 3, 2017, for New Zealand, where we will be until March 9, 2017. I will be teaching in the 2017 summer term at the University of Otago in Dunedin. I am interested in securing health insurance coverage for my wife (age 70) and myself (age 71) for the period of January 3, 2017, through March 9, 2017. I am interested only in catastrophic coverage (injury from a auto collision, a fall, a heart attack, etc.), not general health care insurance. I would be pleased to hear from you if you provide this kind of insurance. I would like to know your scope of coverage and the price for your insurance for that period of time.

A:
There are many plans that would be available for coverage during your travels to New Zealand. We have sent a separate quote for coverage to you for review. This quote will list different plans and rates that would be available to you. These plans are designed to cover any new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. Each plan will the certificate wording attached within the quote so any and everything about that plan that you could possible want to know can be found there as well. Q:My mother is traveling to USA from India and she is 68 years of age, I am looking for a medical insurance for her. I have gone through a medical plan from Atlas America (Comprehensive plan). I have following questions: 1: What is the difference if I buy from your website or if I buy directly from Atlas America? If I buy from your site do I need to contact you first for anything ? 2: As Atlas America has First Health PPO network, can I go to any urgent care in my area which is not part of First Health PPO and later I can get it reimbursed through Atlas ? or it's not allowed/recommended ? 3: If I visit an hospital with First Health PPO network, I just need to show the insurance card ? (I understand I need to pay the deductible) 4: Along with Insurance card for hospital/doctor, should I get a different card for medicines like the Rx cards?

A:

There are many benefits in purchasing from Insubuy, one of those reason is going to be our superior customer service and longer working hours. For more information about purchasing from Insubuy you can see the link. Purchasing from Insubuy 2: As Atlas America has First Health PPO network, can I go to any urgent care in my area which is not part of First Health PPO and later I can get it reimbursed through Atlas ? or it's not allowed/recommended ? You are free to go to any provider that you choose, the difference will be in how much the plan would cover. For out of network providers you will pay out of pocket and submit reimbursement for the eligible expenses. 3: If I visit an hospital with First Health PPO network, I just need to show the insurance card ? (I understand I need to pay the deductible) You will need to show your ID card and the hospital will call to verify your benefits and you would be responsible for you deductible at that point. 4: Along with Insurance card for hospital/doctor, should I get a different card for medicines like the Rx cards? There is not a separate card for prescriptions medication as all medications are paid for out of pocket by the insured. You will submit a reimbursement for the medications. Feel free to contact our office for further assistance.

First of all, I would like to learn whether you policies are matching with my school's requirement or not: Should you wish to meet the mandatory health insurance requirement using your personal health insurance, note that private plans must meet the following criteria to satisfy the Cal State LA's minimum insurance requirement.
