Q:Will travel insurance cover the trip and the airline travel if travel from the US to Costa Rica becomes prohibited due to CV-19?

A:
Trip cancellation Insurance plan that will meet Costa Rican requirements does have a benefit for Trip cancellation for stated covered reasons. The covered reasons will not include coverage for cancellation due to any COVID related reasons. To cancel for a COVID related reason you would need to be eligible for and purchase the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) benefit within 21 days of the initial trip deposit on the plan for any COVID related reason cancellations. You can take a look at the Safe Travels Voyager plan for coverage.

I want to clarify whether Insubuy would cover me for medical expenses in the US, inclusive of covid-19, regardless of the advice of the UK FCO (which currently advises against travel to the US). I am less bothered about cancellation/trip disruption. Thanks and hope you're well. All the best,Alicia
