Q:I moved to the US in October under a K-1 visa, and got married in November. I did have basic travel insurance, which I bought whilst in the UK (my country of citizenship), but I'm not sure if it covers me. I know that now I am married I may be able to be put on my wife's medical insurance, but am also interested in knowing the monthly fee through Insubuy.

A:
We would be glad to assist. We do have insurance that can cover someone on a K1 until they are eligible for domestic insurance. If you are eligible for insurance through your wife's employer, or a domestic plan through the Health Care Exchange, you would need to enroll into that coverage. Our plans will not cover someone who is eligible for domestic insurance, and they are also not ACA compliant, and would have tax implications. If there is a waiting period before you would be eligible for your wife's employer coverage, for example, the coverage would start January 1st, you could carry our plan until that time. I have attached the link below for the plan that can cover you until then. The plan covers new illnesses and new injuries after the effective date, it will not cover anything preventative, routine, or pre-existing. /patriot-america-plus-insurance/ If you have any questions, or need any additional assistance, please let us know.

Q:I'm reaching out to you to get quotes for ACA-Compliant long term medical insurance.

A:
We do not offer coverage for any ACA complaint plans. It is recommended that you check with your state department of insurance. If you need any additional assistance please contact our office.

Q:Before I submit an online application for your Diplomat America Travel policy; I just want assurance that I would be covered. I am a US citizen residing in Mexico. I need a short term travel policy while traveling back to the United States over the holidays.

A:
We would be glad to assist. The Diplomat America plan will cover a U.S. citizen coming to the U.S. to visit who lives abroad. These types of plans will cover new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date of the policy. They will not cover preventative care, routine maintenance, or pre-existing conditions. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I need to purchase insurance to travel from Sierra Leone to Wyoming and back, with stops in Ontario Canada and Maryland. However two things prevent me from buying the Insurance recommended: 1. not available in Maryland (why?) and must have a printed copy filled out (your company helped us deal with this one for my husband's insurance) since we live and work in Sierra Leone. Thank you for your assistance. it was the same insurance he bought. What do you suggest? I will be spending about four days in Maryland before I fly back to Sierra Leone and I don't want to be without insurance there.

A:
We would be glad to assist. The policy you are referring to is the Patriot America Plus plan. You will have to do the paper application because your home country or country of residence is Sierra Leone, however, it will cover you in Maryland as long as the insureds are not going to Maryland first. If Wyoming is the first destination, then the plan will then cover not only in all 50 states including Maryland, but anywhere outside of Sierra Leone. It will only not provide coverage if Maryland is the state you come to first. The restrictions have to do with the State of Maryland. Many plans are not available if that is the primary or first destination when entering the U.S. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:Hi, I am looking at the visitor medical insurance, and I have a question. For "VisitorSecure" plan, I saw I can choose Deductible as $0, $50 or $100 (assume I choose $50). However, when I see the details of this plan, for example, I saw Physician visit is - up to $70, max 10 visits. So my question is - let's assume I go to a Physician visit - Should I just pay the $50 deductible amount and the insurance will cover the remaining, or the insurance will pay the first $75 and I need to pay the remaining? Thank you!

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The VisitorSecurefixed coverage plan will only cover fixed dollar amounts according to a schedule of benefits. So after you have met your deductible the plan will pay only the fixed dollar amount listed in the schedule of benefits. You would be responsible for any amount above and beyond the fixed amount listed. For a more detailed description of how fixed coverage plans work please see the below FAQ. Fixed Coverage If you have any additional questions please contact our office.
