Q:Tata AIG vs Atlas America My apologies for the unsolicited email. I came across your several helpful comments on insubuy.com and wanted to ask your advice on which insurance to buy for my parents who are visiting from India. I looked up Atlas America on insubuy.com and the total premium for my parents amounts to about 2x of what Tata-AIG is offering back in India. Could you please let me know which one you suggest would give me better value for the money? Based on my conversation this morning with the Tata-AIG agent (in India) the coverage seems to be similar to what Atlas America offers. I'll really appreciate a quick response as I need to decide asap. Best regards, PS: My parents had bought Tata-AIG on their prior visits to US, but I want to be more cautious this time as they have gotten older.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance for your parents. Please note that there are primarily two types of visitors insurance: Fixed: Cheaper, less coverage Comprehensive: More expensive, more coverage You can read about fixed vs comprehensive coverage at /visitors-insurance/ Please note that Atlas America is comprehensive coverage plan for all ages while Tata-AIG is fixed coverage plan for anyone age above 55 years. In short, what you pay for is what you get. It is always advisable to purchase insurance from the U.S. based company. Read /visitors-insurance-usa-india-comparison/ to understand that in detail. You can purchase Atlas America insurance online at /atlasamerica-insurance/ I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you very much for the prompt and helpful response. I believe I will go ahead and purchase the Atlas plan from insubuy.com You are welcome. If you need any further help (before, during or after purchase), we are always here to help you in any way we can.

Q:International Major Medical Insurance Plan - PPO network Hello, I am interested in the International major medical insurance plan: /international-major-medical/travel-insurance/ If I buy this plan, how do I find a doctor who accepts the plan and will bill you directly? I searched your web site and couldn't find any information about which doctors in my local area accept the plan. I am not interested in any plan where I need to pay the doctor out of pocket and then file all the paperwork myself to get my money refunded. Thanks, Shuba

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance from us. PIU International Major Medical Plan does NOT participate in any PPO network. It is up to the provider whether to bill the insurance company directly or not. However, we have many other insurance plans that participate in PPO network. It would be the best if you could call our office so that we can know your requirements and suggest you the most suitable product for your needs.

Both my wife aged 63 and myself aged 68 have Type 2 Diabetes, both are controlled by medication and not insulin. Neither of us have had treatment other than the regular medication in the past 6-12 months at least. We both have high blood pressure, again controlled by medication with no additional treatment in the past 6-12 months at least. Would we be covered under the pre-existing medical conditions?
