Q:Hello,I am looking to buy insurance for my parents who are 79 years old right now, but will be 80 years at the end of the quote period (6 months)Some of the Insurance quotes mention they cover pre-existing conditions for 80 years old. Does that mean pre-existing conditions will apply only for part of their stay or will it apply for the full stay because they purchased it when they were 80 years old.Thank you

A:
If they are going to be traveling on a B2 visitor visa and have not yet departed their home country, you could look at this plan: /visitors-protect-insurance/ It does include some pre-existing condition coverage as long as they are fit to travel and not coming to the U.S. for medical treatment. If an unexpected issue were to come up with a pre-existing condition, they would have certain benefit levels based on their age. That plan has a 90 day purchase minimum and therefore is not refundable during that first 90 days. Only if you have purchased for a longer duration would the cancellation and refund guidelines then apply. Because this plan is not extendable, you would need to purchase for the full duration of their stay. All other plans if they have any pre-existing condition coverage would be acute onset benefits of pre-existing conditions. Here is some information regarding that benefit: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ Any plan you purchase, you would want to purchase for the full duration of their stay if purchasing while they are 79 and the policy will start when they are 79, as once they do change age groups if you try and extend at that time, you could loose benefit levels and the premium could increase. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:What time does the cover start when you buy from india

A:
Most plans run on EST and some CST, but none of them would be based on the time in Home Country. So for India for example, if they are leaving at 6 am India time on the 26th, it would still be the 25th here in the U.S. so you would want to start coverage from the 25th if you want them covered during their travel and have selected a plan that will do so. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:u.s.a. resident already in the u.k. wants to travel to Poland, with pre existing condition, is there any policy you can offer for him for Poland?

A:
We have travel medical plans that can cover someone traveling outside their home country and some that can be purchased during travel, after departure from home country. However, we do not have a plan that can provide coverage for pre-existing conditions outside of some plans providing some acute onset benefits because they have already departed their home country. Here are a couple of recommended plans that include acute onset benefits: /atlas-international-insurance/ /patriot-international-lite-insurance/ /safe-travels-outbound/travel-health-insurance/ Here is our FAQ regarding acute onset benefits for you to review: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
