Question:

Protection america vs. WorldMed vs. Visit USA Excellent site with lots of insight into the whole insurance process! my parents are visiting me next month mom to stay for 6 months and dad may leave after 2 months (or stay longer undecided). I am unable to decide between Protection america , Visit USA and world Med. From what I have read so far, they all seem to have good reviews and user experiences. 1. Protection america is administered by IMG while the other two are by AIG the AIG ones seem to have a A++ superior rating while the IMG one has A Excellent rating.. what is the difference 2. what is the role of a carrier Protection america Sirius, other two TIS which one is better 3. Protection america's rates are the best so far but it doesn't say if the deductible is once per poplicy period or per sickness.. same with the other two.. I wasn't sure how deductibles are applied. 4. My dad might need a blood test done once a month or two months ( he has arthritis) his doctor in india is willing to adjust his medication dosage based on these lab reports which we can email him. Now would these blood tests be covered Should I make sure I go to a lab in the PPO network 5. Protection america offers 'First health PPO' and World med offers the 'multiplan PPO' I couldn't find the PPO nw for Visit USA..which of these is best I live in FLower Mound Texas and work in the Irvinglewisville area of texas(all these are around Dallas). Thanks for all your help and advice. Neel.

Answer:

0. Administrator: /visitor-health-insurance/#administrator Carrier: /visitor-health-insurance/#carrier IMG is the administator while Sirius International is the carrier for Protection America. Claims are handled by IMG. TIS is the administrator while AIG is the carrier for Visit USA / World Med. Claims are handled by AIG. 1. As you can see at /visitor-health-insurance/#ambest AM Best is the overall rating of the insurance company. That does not represent the rating of the plan itself or IMG vs. TIS service. As long as any carrier is A and above, they are all good and you should not make any decision solely based on AM Best rating. If some company is C or D, you should worry about buying from them. 2. Look at answer 0. 3. Deductible is maximum per policy period (max. one per year) in all of them, Protection America, Visit USA, World Med. 4. No. No company will cover them. That will be considered as pre-existing conditions. 5. Protection America - First Health PPO /international-medical-ppo-network/ WorldMed - MultiPlan PPO /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ and Visit USA - MultiPlan PPO /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ Both are good networks. Generally there are more providers in First Health than in MultiPlan.

That was a lot of good information..Thanks One other question I had was - since I need toget 6 months coverage for my mom and 2 months for my dad, should I fill in two applications separately?

Yes, you should apply separately for each person. Even if they were coming for same duration, we always recommend everyone to do separate application for each person (except for minor kids). Read more about it in the FAQ at /guide/

Thank You first for helping us with medical insurance problem. My Dad is prone with diabetics. Can you please suggest any good medical insurance company that supports this pre-exsisting condition. I live in Texas. Your inputs will be so helpful. Thanks Again Laks

Unfortunately, there is no insurance plan from any company any where that covers pre-existing conditions to visitors to USA.
