Thailand Travel Insurance Requirements

Thailand Travel Insurance that covers COVID-19 (Coronavirus) just like any other eligible sickness is mandatory for the duration of stay in Thailand. The insurance should include minimum coverage of $10,000. The previous requirement for minimum coverage of $50,000 ended May 1, 2022.

Thailand Entry Requirements

In an effort to increase tourism, Thailand has relaxed their entry requirements as of May 1, 2022. All visitors to Thailand must register with the Thailand Pass system and provide proof of health insurance providing minimum coverage of at least $10,000, including coverage for COVID-19.

Fully Vaccinated Travelers

Thailand has removed their COVID-19 quarantine and testing requirement for fully vaccinated travelers. As of May 1, 2022, fully vaccinated visitors are simply asked to self-monitor for symptoms. No COVID test is necessary.

Unvaccinated Travelers

As of May 1, 2022, Thailand has eliminated their mandatory quarantine requirement for unvaccinated visitors. However, all unvaccinated travelers will be required to present proof of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to their arrival.

Millions of tourists come to Thailand every year, and tourism is a large part of Thailand's economy. Here are just a few places tourists in Thailand should definitely check out.

There are other temples such as Wat Arun, Wat Traimit (the Golden Buddha) and Wat Suthat. For those interested in history, the National Museum and Wang Na Palace are worth seeing.

Pattaya is located on Thailand's eastern gulf coast. It is very well known for its beaches. Additionally, you can also visit the walking street, Sanctuary of Truth, which has an excellent teak structure. The Tiffany Cabaret show provides excellent entertainment. For nature lovers, there is Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, and Pattaya also has a floating market. Make sure to visit Wat Phra Khao Yai ("Big Buddha Hill"). For those traveling with kids, there are several water parks as well.

Travel Risks for Tourists in Thailand

Thailand is a long distance away from most places in North America and Europe. Therefore, it is essential to purchase travel medical insurance or travel insurance while visiting to Thailand.

Gastrointestinal Issues

While visiting Thailand, the probability of getting a foodborne or waterborne illness is very high. This can come in the form of uncooked or undercooked food, unclean drinking water, or unsanitary food preparation. Visitors are encouraged to avoid restaurants with questionable hygiene, and stick to drinking bottled water.

Tropical Storms

Be aware that tropical cyclone season in the South Pacific Ocean runs from November 1 to April 30 each year. Tropical cyclones, also known as hurricanes or typhoons, could cause serious disruptions to your travel plans if you were to be caught off guard. As part of your preparation for your trip to Thailand, make sure to purchase a travel insurance plan that includes coverage for tropical cyclones.

Limited Medical Facilities

If you fall seriously sick or get severely injured, you may be required to be transported to Singapore or another location where adequate treatment can be given. In these cases, insurance providing coverage for emergency medical evacuation could be immensely helpful.

Fortunately, it is easy to purchase Thailand travel insurance. You can get instant quotes from various products on this website, compare them side by side and make an immediate purchase online. Even if you are going to Thailand tomorrow, you can purchase travel insurance today and protect yourself from unexpected medical emergencies.
