Q:Flexible medical evacuation insurance Looking for Medevac Insurance that will cover pre-existing conditions AND from areas of the world where there could be civil unrest / CIVIL WAR or just a plain third world country where I may need medical attention - I want it back to the USA not in another country. The insurance I read on your site is too restrictive - I work for the USG and go to various undesireable locations and I need some coverage.

A:
I am not aware of any such insurance plan available.

Q:Visitors insurance for my mother My mother is visiting to USA in near future. I know it is better to buy insurance before she arrives to USA but if we buy insurance after she arrives, what is the maximum time limit allowed to purchase insurance? Is it Within 1 month time from the date of arrival?

A:
How old is she? What state will she be arriving in ? She is arriving in Maryland. By the way, why is it so important? It is important because "United States is not united for insurance purposes". E.g., there are some plans not available if the person has already arrived in NY state. If she is 65+, there are some available only during the first 30 days of arrival. In any case, it is best to buy the insurance before she arrives so that she is covered during travel as well. You can make an instant purchase online at https://www.insubuy.com If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Hi, Can you please provide more information on following questions. What is the meaning on term "ACUTE ONSET OF PRE-EXISTING CONDITION" Does Fixed Plan cover following? 1. Prescription drugs & Medicines? 2. Over the counter medicines? 3. Medical Lab Test? 4. X-ray? Does Comprehensive Plan cover following? 1. Prescription drugs & Medicines? 2. Over the counter medicines? 3. Medical Lab Test? 4. X-ray? Thanks, Acute onset of pre-existing conditions in Atlas America: If you are under age 70, you are covered for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Coverage is available up to $15,000 lifetime maximum for eligible medical expenses and up to $25,000 lifetime maximum for Emergency Medical Evacuation. An Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of physician recommendations or symptoms. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. Both fixed coverage and comprehensive coverage plans coverage prescription drugs/medicines, medical lab test and x-ray, for the eligible medical expenses. However, how much they cover is different each type of plan. Please look at /visitors-insurance/ to understand the difference between fixed and comprehensive coverage plans. Over the counter medicines are not covered in either type of plans. In fixed coverage plan, I recommend Inbound USA Insurance. In comprehensive coverage plan, I recommend Atlas America Insurance. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Cost of medical procedures Does any know how much angioplasty or Bypass procedure costs in US and if for unfortunate condition where visitor has to undergo, will Visitor insurance cover such claims

A:
1. One bad thing about the U.S. healthcare is that there is no way to tell for sure what the cost of the treatment would be, until you get the bills. All I can say that it would be a lot of cost. 2. Visitors insurance plans generally cover any new medical conditions, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. There is no way for anyone to tell whether something would be covered or not as there is no way to make a decision in advance. I suggest that you read various articles in our 'Guide' section at /guide/ for further details. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or post them here.

Q:Visitor Care Insurance??? Thank you for providing such valuable information and helping us with the insurance. Last time I had purchase Visitor's Care for my in-laws from this website in June 2008. My mother in-law is visiting us again. Has anything changed with the Visitor's Care insurance during this time. I guess it is the best one in the fixed coverage category. If the policy effective date is one day before the actual departure date then will it cover the travel also? I mean any medical issues during the travel and not the baggage insurance or trip delay etc. She has just being diagnosed with BP but she is fine and getting all the required medications. She also has a slight knee problem. do you suggest comprehensive coverage for her? Thank you for your valuable inputs. Regards.

A:
You are welcome. We try to help in everyway we can, before, during and after purchase. 1. There have been no changes in Visitors Care since then. 2. That's right. 3. We always recommend comprehensive coverage plans to everyone in every situation. Fixed coverage plans only pay a small portion of actual expenses and you will have to pay the differences beyond that yourself. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Thank you Sir for your prompt reply. 2. So is there any trip insurance that can be bought only for that day's travel? If I try to purchase the trip insurance and enter the departure and and return dates then it is very expensive and it is for the entire period. Maybe something from the airlines itself should suffice. 3. Any preference in the comprehensive coverage. I know that every plan has its own benefits but in general. I was looking at atlas america. Regards. 2. As long as for what you are looking for, just buying the visitors insurance is enough. You don't have to buy any separate travel insurance. 3. Yes, Atlas America Insurance is an excellent visitors insurance plan and highly recommended. It would be the suitable for you. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Thank you again for the prompt response. just one final question. If we go for a fixed coverage plan which one do you recommend. I have shortlisted Inbound USA and Visitor Care. I know Inbound has deductible per injury/sickness which I can take care by selecting 0 deductible. Is there any difference in their PPO network? Thank you very much. Regards. Both Inbound USA and Visitors Care plan are good fixed coverage plans. Please note that, just like the deductible, you get the policy maximum (such as $50,000) as well per every incident in Inbound USA. You can buy it online at /safe-travels-elite-insurance/ There is no PPO network in either of these plans. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. how a doctor is considered in-network against out of network in both of these plans or is there no such concept? Thanks. Regards. There is no such concept. If there is no network, there is nothing like 'in-network' or 'out-of-network'. Fixed coverage plans are low coverage plans and pay a fixed amount for each and every procedure. You have to pay the difference. Insurance companies have no incentive to negotiate the prices as they are paying the same fixed amount anyway. That is why there is no network.

Q:Travel Gap SIngle Trip Excursion Hi Narender I read travel gap excursion brochure for my mother in law (USA citizen with medicare coverage 80%) who is travelling canada in 2 weeks. She is having Diabetes, Hypertension, Liver cirrhosis but asymptomatic since 6 month. Before I purchase the insurance for her I wanted to be sure that her insurance will be approved with her existing condition. For instance 1. What will NOT be covered? 2. Proof of coverage - will insurance company provide a card? 3. Do we have to co pays for each of the service (eg. drs visits, ER visit, meds etc). 4. Any particular hospital or specific doctor if they accept this insurance 5. Any problems with insurance coverage in Toronto and if yes, what kinds of problems have been reported. 6. What kind of equipment coverage is available, for e.g. say if need O2 at home, is that covered? 7. If she is hospitalized on the 3 month insurance, and if I need to renew premium, will they renew it at the same rate or higher? if she is not hospitalized, will it be renewed at the same rate or lower I appreciate your early response Nadia

A:
She has extensive health problems that will require care abroad. Someone like this is clearly leaving with the intent of accessing care abroad. Impossible to say what is covered or not in a unique case like this one. We don't know all the circumstances here. I am going to caution you to read the policy and the list of exclusions very carefully. Please read this specific exclusion below on the TravelGap Excursion plan, which reads: "Treatment or medical services required while traveling against the advice of a physician, while on a waiting list for a specific treatment or when traveling for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment." 1. Please read the plan description and the exclusions carefully. /travel-health-insurance/ 2. Yes. 3. This depends on the plan design selected. A deductible may apply based on the plan chosen. 4. A member can seek care from any provider overseas. Benefits are paid at 100% of reasonable fees, less the plan deductible. HTH has a small number of select doctors, hospitals and clinics under contract in Toronto. Due to Canadian law, they are not permitted to publish the actual details and profiles of the doctors. Only registered members are permitted to access the hospital list online. 5. Canada has a national health system. Contracting with private medical insurers can be a challenge for public hospitals. There is a possibility that a member will have to pay upfront if they go to a non contracted provider. 6. Home health is not covered. See the certificate for all exclusions. 7. The rate does not vary.

Q:Insurance for F2 visa holder Hi! I am Pooja, an indian citizen, currently in Rochester, NY, USA. I came here on 6th Feb 2010. Husband is a student on F1 visa and I am a dependant on F2. We both carried insurances from India. My husband's insurance (student) was valid for an year and is renewable for another year. My insurance (visitor) was valid for 6 months and was renewed for another 6 months. My insurance has expired on 20th Feb 2011. My husband plans to renew his Indian insurance, while mine is not renewable (as per the info received from service provider, pls confirm). I am looking to buy an insurance with less premium for approximately 6 months and probably renew it for another 6 months. I read the reviews of various insurance providers (Seven corners, atlas america, etc) and they've been very disappointing. Pls suggest a suitable insurance.

A:
You can consider buying Patriot America Insurance.
