Q:I need travel insurance for a vacation to the British Virgin Islands from 2/27/2024 to 2/3/2024. what is covered with that and how can I get accident insurance in case something happens while I am there?

A:
If you are traveling outside the US, you can run a quote in the Travel Outside U.S.A. section of the website. These plans will cover you anywhere outside your home country for medical expenses related to any new injuries or illnesses that did not exist in the body before the effective date of the policy. If you are a US resident, and looking to insure your non-refundable trip cost, you can run a quote in the Trip Insurance section of the website. To learn about this type of insurance please read Trip Cancellation Coverage in Travel Insurance. You can see a comparison of the two types of plans in Trip Insurance vs Travel Medical Insurance. If you have any additional questions, please call our office at 1(866) INSUBUY (4678289).

Q:hi, My daughter is due to come out to the US from the UK next august to study. she is a type 1 diabetic using insulin daily. do you provide cover for diabetes and to cover her insulin prescriptions while she is there? we are having trouble getting insurance for diabetes so any advise will be very helpful. many Thanks

A:
For her situation, it would be recommended that she purchase insurance through the University where she will be studying. This is because the school should offer a domestic insurance policy that will not have any restrictions on pre-existing conditions. Unfortunately, that is the only way you will get the coverage that you are looking for. There will not be any student plans on the market that will cover for pre-existing conditions without at least a 6 month waiting period. Study USA - Healthcare Platinum is a plan that, after a 6 month waiting period, will cover pre-existing conditions as any other illness. If the school or organization does not offer insurance this is the plan I would recommend. If you have any additional questions, please call out office at 1(866) INSUBUY (4678289) and one of our agents would be happy to assist you over the phone.

Q:My cousin is on a student visa and is planning to bring his 25 year old wife and 2 year old kid to US to stay with him. He is looking for a suitable insurance plan. Can you suggest a plan for this family? He has insurance with his school he is attending.

A:
You can run a quote for F1/F2 visa holders in the Students (F1/F2) section of the website. If you are on a J1 or J2 visa you can run a quote in the Exchange Visitors (J1/J2) section of the website to insure that the plans will meet the minimum J1/J2 requirements. If you have any questions about how the plans work or which plan to choose, it is recommended to call our office at 1(866) INSUBUY (4678289).

Q:I'm wondering if I can get a covid shot at an Urgent Care clinic in Bend, OR, if that would be paid for. I'm checking if any pharmacies in the vicinity (radius 25 miles) have the shot, but non have it yet. The local doctors say it will be a couple of weeks before they get it. But if it's covered, or the price is reasonable, I'll go ahead and get an appt. Thanks for your help.

A:
Preventative care and routine maintenance is not covered under any visitors plans on the market. Therefore, vaccines such as the COVID-19 vaccine or flu shot, which would be considered preventative care, would not receive coverage. if you have any additional questions please let us know.

A:
You can run a quote for visitors to the US in the Visitors to U.S.A. section of the website. There is not questionsaire that needs to be filled out, but when running a quote, be sure to select "international including USA" under Coverage Area to insure the plans will cover you outside the US. This will not affect your premium. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
