Q:J1 visa scholar insurance Hello, I am about to be a visiting scholar at FSU for a year. I will be coming with my wife. We wanted to know which insurance policy you can offer us. The policy needs to comply with FSU requirements, and we would also want it to cover pregnancy-related expenses. Thank you very much.

A:
You can look at J visa insurance products at /j1-visa-health-insurance/ None of them will cover pregnancy. Pregnancy is not covered even with a higher premium? Thanks, No, there is no such plan.

Q:J visa medical insurance for family of 4 Hi My family of 4 will be arriving in USA on the J1/J2 visa for my husband's studies for about 10 months. I'm interested in the Atlas America's insurance but I have a few questions which I hope you can help: 1. Is the insurance a travel or medical insurance? 2. Will it be sufficient to just purchase the above mentioned insurance for our medical needs? 3. Does it cover routine vaccination for my 9-month old son in the States? 4. Does it cover loss of money, lugguage, flight delays and other coverage found in travel insurance if we travel around USA and other nearby countries? If not, can you recommend a good travel insurance that we can purchase? 5. Does most hospitals accept this insurance? 6. How will we be billed? 7. Do we need to go for medical check-up before buying this insurance? Thank you for your time.

A:
1. Atlas America does not meet the requirements of J1/J2 visa. Look at /j1-visa-health-insurance/ 2. Look at answer #1. 3. No. 4. No. 5. Yes. 6. Read /travel-and-student-insurance-ppo-network/ and /international-medical-ppo-network/ 7. No. Thank you for the prompt reply. Just wanted to check if there is a reason why J1/J2 visa holders cannot get a visitor insurance like Atlas America? Does Visit USA or Patriot Exchange fulfill the travel insurance aspects asked in my Question 4? Thank you for your time Please review J1/J2 visa requirements at /exchange-visitor-insurance/ It requires minimum $50,000 per every incident (sickness or injury). While Atlas America provides $50,000 only once. The products you see in our J1/J2 visa sections meet all the requirements of J1/J2 visa. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Further information on Global Medical Insurance Gold Option Dear IMG, After reading your website information about the Global Medical Insurance plans that you offer, I was hoping you could provide me with further information: I am looking for a global/international family policy for my wife and myself. We are both US citizens who have lived in Hong Kong for the past 9 years and anticipate doing so indefinitely. Specifically, I am looking for a policy that will qualify as a "HDHP" High Deductable Health Plan for the purpose of establishing a HSA Health Savings Account in the US. The requirements for a HDHP are: Health insurance plan with minimum deductible of (for 2007): â€" $1,100 (self-only coverage) â€" $2,200 (family coverage) â€" These amounts are indexed annually for inflation • Annual out-of-pocket (including deductibles and co-pays) cannot exceed (for 2007): â€" $5,500 (self-only coverage) â€" $11,000 (family coverage) â€" These amounts are indexed annually for inflation Reasonable benefit designs not counted toward the out of pocket maximum include: â€" Lifetime limits on benefits â€" Limits to usual, customary and reasonable (UCR) amounts â€" Limits on specific benefits • Maximum number of days or visits covered • Maximum dollar reimbursements â€" Pre-certification requirements • HDHPs can have: â€" first dollar coverage (no deductible) for preventive care (copays allowed) â€" higher out-of-pocket (copays & coinsurance) for non-network services • All covered benefits must apply to the plan deductible, including prescription drugs If HDHP provides prescription drug benefit, prescription drug expenses must be subject to the annual deductible or the individual may not contribute to an HSA. Preventive care generally does not include any service or benefit intended to treat an existing illness, injury or condition. • Certain drugs and medications can be considered preventive care. â€" Drugs taken by a person who has developed risk factors for a disease that has not yet manifested itself or to prevent reoccurrence of a disease â€" Example: Cholesterol-lowering medication for those with high cholesterol Safe harbor list of preventive care that HDHP can provide as first-dollar coverage before minimum deductible is satisfied: â€" Periodic health evaluations (e.g., annual physicals) â€" Screening services (e.g., mammograms) â€" Routine pre-natal and well-child care â€" Child and adult immunizations â€" Tobacco cessation programs â€" Obesity weight loss programs • Can apply co-pays to preventive care services The benefits and exclusions described for your Global Medical Insurance Gold Worldwide coverage policy would seem to be what I am looking for. My concern was about the deductable where it states that the family deductable is "3X the single". I would want the highest deductable allowable under the guidelines for a HDHP provided above. Could you please advise me on this matter? Thank you. Sincerely,

A:
The Global plans are international medical plans. The HSA compatible plans are special plans created specifically for HSA purposes, following certain guidelines, and are domestic plans. There are certain requirements that the Global does not meet (out of pocket limit: for example $5,000 individual out of pocket maximum annually) due to exclusions or having benefits capped off at a specific dollar amount. You can look at Global Citizen plan at /geo-blue-xplorer/expatriates-health-insurance/ Within that plan, deductible $1000 is the only plan that is HSA compatible. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Questions about IMGlobal Gold Worldwide Plan Hello, My wife and I are moving from the US to the Dominican Republic and are interested in the Gold Worldwide Global Medical Insurance Plan but have a couple of questions: 1. Is it true that her birth control prescriptions will NOT be covered? If so, is there any sort of rider or add-on that we can purchase so that they WILL be covered? 2. Our current insurance will expire on Sept. 30th but we will not be leaving the country until Nov. 4th. Can we sign up with this plan and be fully covered for that time period so that we do not have a lapse in insurance? 3. Is there a rider that we can purchase to cover non-emergency dental treatment? I look forward to any help that you can provide on the above questions.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing Global medical insurance. 1. No to both questions. 2. No. You will have to buy domestic insurance, available at /short-term-health-insurance/ 3. No. You can purchase it online at /global-medical-insurance/

Q:Enquiry for Global Medical Insurance - IMG Hi, I am looking for health insurance for myself and my wife. I am 30 years old and my wife is 27 residing in USA. We are Indian citizens. We need insurance till 2011. I was going through your website and I had some questions regarding the Silver - worldwide option of your policies. Some of the questions i have are as follows: 1. Are we eligible for this insurance? 2. Is this dependent on states in the US? I mean, if we move from one state to the other, can we still hold the insurance? What are the chances that we find a doctor and hospital close to the place where we live? 3.From the online quote, we figured out that with a quarterly payment of $462, the annual deductable is $500. What does this mean? If I make this quarterly payments, the maximum deductable for any service is $500? 4. If we plan to have a baby, will the baby be covered? What about the maternity expenses? will it be paid by you? 5. Do we have to pay any copays for visiting the doctors/hospitals or drugs? It will be great if someone can help me with answers to these questions.

A:

Q:Emergency medical evacuation insurance To Whom it May concern: My situation may be a bit unusal, then again, maybe not. I am going to work for the US Gov't for 12-18 months in a restricted location. It has been strongly suggested that I obtain medical evacuation insurance. In reading the information from your website I am prompted to ask, can I be insured if a medical condition has existed for the past year, yet asymptomatic, or does it preclude coverage if a medical emergency should arise in absolute terms? Thanks for responding quickly to my question. I am departing very, very soon and need to search elsewhere if this coverage is not available to me. Sincerely,

A:
Assuming you are a US citizen, both SkyRescue and the Patriot plan have coverage for an unexpected recurrence of a pre-existing condition for emergency medical evacuation up to $25,000 in coverage. The condition as described (asymptomatic) would appear to qualify for the sudden recurrence benefit, but of course, this is not a guarantee. You can look at SkyRescue at /trip-cancellation-insurance/ and Patriot International at /patriot-international-lite-insurance/ Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any further questions. Much thanks You are welcome. Here is the answer for another of our products: Diplomat MedEvac at /trip-cancellation-insurance/ The pre ex for the Evac reads - if there was a change in medication on the 60 days prior to your effective date. So if you have been on a medication for 8 years and two weeks before you go on your trip your doctor changes your medication - the plan would not pay for you to get an evac. If there wasn't any change in meds you are on, in the 60 days prior then it would cover the evac as long as none of the other exclusions apply. If no medication is being taken then the "pre ex" doesn't apply.
