Q:Can you give me examples of the below? "Preventative care or routine maintenance"

A:
Preventative care is when you have a physical. Nothing is wrong you are just getting a checkup. Routine maintenance is if you do have a pre-existing condition like high blood pressure and you have to go to the doctor every so often to follow up.

Q:My girlfriend is living here in the US with me and we want general coverage. Right now she's on a visitor visa, but that's going to change. She's not going to be short term. So we need coverage now for however long you can do.

A:
While she is a visitor she can purchase the Patriot America Plus plan. Assuming you are applying for her green card, once that has been done you would have to move to a plan like Short Term Major Medical or International Major Medical and these plans would only be available until she is eligible for a long term domestic. No short term plan will cover any pre-existing conditions, maternity, preventative care or routine maintenance. The plans will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. If you have additional questions please call our office.

Q:We would like to bring my parents here from India as immigrants to live with us permanently. We are concerned about health care and what our options are to obtain this for them. They are 76 and 83 and do have some pre-existing conditions. I hope that you can give us some information and guidance in this matter.

A:
With your parents arriving as immigrants in to the United States. You would need to look into domestic insurance options independently as they would be required as per the PPACA to have a complaint plan to avoid penalties. The short term options that would be available would cover the new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. These plan do not cover pre-existing conditions, general routine doctors visits or medications as it relates to the pre-existing conditions. Please take a moment to review the following plans that would be available. These options would be available if they are not eligible for a domestic insurance or for the Medicare system.: New Immigrant Insurance
