Q:Blue Cross of California - Short Term Health Insurance I was looking at the Blue Cross PPO short term health insurance program and have a question about what qualifies residency. My daughter has been a college student in Germany for the past 5 years and has German insurance. She's coming back to California (her original birth place and original place of residency) this summer and found out that her German health insurance will not cover her while in the U.S. because she's a U.S. citizen. I've checked on travel insurances and they require that the travel is outside of one's home country. Blue Cross says that you must be a permanent legal resident. She's living in Germany now and plans to stay, even through she's a U.S. citizen. I'm a little confused about the definition of "residency"...could you please clarify this for me and make any suggestions concerning getting her short-term health insurance coverage while she's in the states this summer?

A:
If you are US citizen in California, you qualify for Blue Cross of California, even if you had been living outside US for some time. You can purchase it online at https://www.insubuy.com

Q:Domestic insurance for new immigrants with diabetes I have couple of questions regarding my earlier communication with you. My parents have been in US for about 4 months on Green Card and they are currently insured with Protection America. I looked through the Assurant health brochure from the link you provided earlier. I see that they cover the pre-existing conditions after being with them for 12 months. My Mom is diabetic and my dad has a cholestorol problem. I am wondering if I switch to Assurant health, would my parents be covered for any problems related to cholestorol or diabetes after the 12 months? Since they are on their Green Card, they will be staying with me for long time here in US. Could you please advice me on what to do? I am willing to pay any insurance expenses. Are there any local insurance companies like Anthem, CIGNA that would cover preexisting conditions as well? How are they compared to Auurant health? what are my best options available? Thanks a lot,

A:
If a person has diabetes, he/she will be declined insurance in most companies like Assurant, Aetna, Humana, Anthem etc. No insurance for her from domestic insurance companies. Jan a person has diabetes, he/she will be declined insurance in most companies like Assurant, Aetna, Humana, Anthem etc. No insurance for her from domestic insurance companies. Q:New immigrants to Virginia I’m programming (I’m 74 yrs. old), with my wife (66 yrs. old) to move, starting from 2008, to your Country, and precisely to the Fairfax County â€" Virginia, to live there with our only son, who, with his family, lives and works a long time in the U.S. : he is now an American citizen. It is a demanding decision for us (we are both retired) that causes many problems, but it gives confidence for our being elderly, with no more family relations in Italy. We are Italian citizens (we come from Venice / North-Eastern Italy), we enjoy a reasonable state of health and we now follow the procedures to get the Green Card. Having said this, knowing your competence and experience, we will be grateful for every suggestion and advice you will think right to give us, with special regard to our age and to being retired. Naturally, one of the our serious worries is to get information about health insurance we could comply with. I apologize for my English.

A:

Q:Credit card declined - Inbound Immigrant I am on the website of "insubuy" in order to buy an insurance of "Inbound immigrant" ( /international-major-medical-insurance/. I complete my application but I have some problem to purchase my insurance. When i want to purchase, the message "ERROR: You have entered either an incorrect expiration date or an incorrect CVV." appears. Concerning the expiration date i have no doubt. Concerning CVV, here in France, it's the 3 last number behind the credit card. And it's not a problem with my credit card (Mastercard) because i try with my wife credit card (Visa)and it was the same problem. Could you please give me a solution as quick as possible,

A:
The actual problem is that your credit card issuing bank is rejecting the transaction. This happens routinely to customers. You need to call the phone number on the credit card and ask them to manually authorize the amount of charge and try aplying again after that. It would go through then. Please let me know if you need any other help.

Q:Insurance for missionary to Africa My wife and I are contemplating going to Africa as missionaries of our sending Church, Lake Tomahawk Bible Church. We would be long-term, possibly lifetime and would work in ten different countries in Africa. We are self supporting and retired. I will be Medicare eligible on June 1, 2007 and my wife is 73 and already participating in Medicare along with a supplemental policy. Please give us any advice you deem relevant and ask any questions you might need to know. Thank you for your time on our behalf.

A:
You can look at long term plans like Global Mission Medical and Global Mission Basic plans available at /missionary-health-insurance/ You would be get all the details and the prices online. You can also purchase it online. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. How do I find information about the Outreach Plan? It stated in the material that if one were going overseas for more than three months and the person was under age 80, that one should look at page 9 of this plan. It appears the maximum amount my wife could purchase is $50,000. Is that correct? We would have our Medicare coverage if we came back to the U.S., but we would need your coverage for local African care and emergency evacuation to other locations (probably outside of Africa and into Europe) for critical care. Your help and information, please. Thank you. Brochure for Outreach is available at /outreach-international/missionary-travel-medical-insurance/ All the information is there. Maximum coverage for 70+ is $50,000. Yes, it covers new medical conditions anywhere outside home country and emergency evacuation as well. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am now buying the insurance online as I found how to do it, but the only concern is that the package will not make it to our address here on time, can I give an address of a friend in the states where we are going?? Thanks you, Yes, you can. Just put that as mailing address. Put your address for all other addresses. Thank you very much it worked out and was accepted, we will go the USA and await the papers at our friends house. How long will it take for the papers to be send there? Thank you, Papers are mailed next business day and take around 3 to 5 days to get delivered by post office.
