Q:I am shopping for Visitor insurance for my mom who had had a bypass surgery done January 2019. She has since then been fine and is on regular diuretic and blood pressure medication. Please guide in shopping for a plan that will cover if anything like a repeat heart attack ( that requires instant hospitalization and treatment ) was to happen during her stay.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. All plans on the market are designed to cover the new illnesses and injuries that are contracted after the effective date. They will exclude the coverage for pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine care. You may view and quote plans in the Visitors to the USA section of our website. There you will be able to enter your details and view the applicable plans. You may also be interested in a plan with the acute onset benefit, if it is available for her age group. Should you need assistance or have additional questions please let us know.

A:
There is not a plan on the market that will cover the cost of childbirth for a visitor. The cost would be strictly out of pocket for all maternity related expenses.

Q:Does it affect eligibility for visitors' insurance if the applicant is a US citizen (but not a US resident) and/or if the applicant is employed (but not entitled to health insurance from employer)? Thank you.

A:
Those are 2 different situations all together. If you have a U.S. citizen who lives abroad and comes to the U.S. to visit, we do have plans that can cover for that situation. Those plans can be found through this quote link: /visitors-insurance/ If you are referring to a U.S. citizen here working and living, then they are not visiting, but residing here. They would be eligible for domestic insurance, if not through an employer, then through the Health Care Exchange in the state in which they are residing. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
