Question:

Visitors insurance for my mother My mother is visiting to USA in near future. I know it is better to buy insurance before she arrives to USA but if we buy insurance after she arrives, what is the maximum time limit allowed to purchase insurance? Is it Within 1 month time from the date of arrival?

Answer:

How old is she? What state will she be arriving in ?

She is arriving in Maryland. By the way, why is it so important?

It is important because "United States is not united for insurance purposes". E.g., there are some plans not available if the person has already arrived in NY state. If she is 65+, there are some available only during the first 30 days of arrival. In any case, it is best to buy the insurance before she arrives so that she is covered during travel as well. Hi, Can you please provide more information on following questions. What is the meaning on term "ACUTE ONSET OF PRE-EXISTING CONDITION" Does Fixed Plan cover following? 1. Prescription drugs & Medicines? 2. Over the counter medicines? 3. Medical Lab Test? 4. X-ray? Does Comprehensive Plan cover following? 1. Prescription drugs & Medicines? 2. Over the counter medicines? 3. Medical Lab Test? 4. X-ray? Thanks,

Acute onset of pre-existing conditions in Atlas America: If you are under age 70, you are covered for an Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition. Coverage is available up to $15,000 lifetime maximum for eligible medical expenses and up to $25,000 lifetime maximum for Emergency Medical Evacuation. An Acute Onset of a Pre-existing Condition is a sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of physician recommendations or symptoms. Treatment must be obtained within 24 hours of the sudden and unexpected outbreak or recurrence. Both fixed coverage and comprehensive coverage plans coverage prescription drugs/medicines, medical lab test and x-ray, for the eligible medical expenses. However, how much they cover is different each type of plan. Please look at /visitors-insurance/ to understand the difference between fixed and comprehensive coverage plans. Over the counter medicines are not covered in either type of plans. In fixed coverage plan, I recommend Inbound USA Insurance. In comprehensive coverage plan, I recommend Atlas America Insurance.
