Q:Need Help to select plans Hi, I am trying to get insurance for my parents visiting me. Last time they were here I had a bad experience since I bought a fixed coverage plan and I was ripped off by the hospital. Now here are the criteria: Age 69/64 There are pre-existing ailments I checked the PPO coverage in my area (CA, 91367) and it omly tells me about the urgent cares. What if I has to go to emergency do I have to look for a hospital in the network? Please help me with this. They are starting their journey on Sep 1st and I need to get the insurance before that. Thanks, Mano

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing visitors insurance. Yes, we always recommend everyone to purchase comprehensive coverage plans only. In addition to the urgent cares, there are hospitals and emergency rooms also in the network in your area. If you need any help navigating the provider directory, please call our office. You can always go out of network too. However, going within the PPO network is advantageous because they are much more likely to bill the insurance company directly and charge you the network negotiated fees which are typically lower than their regular charges. In some plans, even the coinsurance amount is lower within PPO network. In order to avoid searching for a provider in emergency, you should search for them in advance so that you know what to do when the time is critical. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. I have been resident here since 2010, with a green card since 2011. I would like help with which is the best option for me for health insurance. I am 58 years old and for the last year I had Inbound Immigrant insurance which is now due to expire. Should I continue with this or is there a better policy? I haven't needed to make a claim so far as I am in good health and have no pre-existing conditions. I have seen a policy called "Visitors Care", which seems considerably cheaper than Inbound Immigrant - is this a better or worse policy and are there any others that are better than both but still affordable? Inbound Immigrant is for maximum 5 years. Visitors Care is for maximum 2 years. You are not going to find anything cheaper than that. My suggestion would be to continue what you have.

Q:Visitor comprehensive insurance for 73 year old Please recommend comprehensive insurance for a 73-year old visiting USA for about 6 months. Is there any insurance with more than $50000 coverage ?

A:
After searching through your website and understanding the different options, I think it is narrowed down to the following : 1) Atlas America - $50,000 with 80/20 coinsurance 2) Patriot America - $50,000 with 90/10 coinsurance 3) Patriot Platinum - $100,000 with 100/0 I understand above 70+, the amount covered for pre-existing conditions is $2500 only. Please advice if the above summary is correct and recommend . any others I missed similar to the above ? Thanks 1. In Atlas America, after deductible, as long as you visit the provider in the PPO network and they bill directly, you don't have to pay 20% There is no coverage for acute onset of pre-existing conditions for 70+. 2 & 3. Coverage for sudden and unexpected recurrence of pre-existing conditions is $2,500. There is another one called 'International Major Medical Insurance' which provides $250,000 coverage. /international-major-medical-insurance/ But there is no PPO network and it is not renewable or refundable. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or post them here. Thanks... but what is acute onset of pre-existing conditions mean? i.e., a heart attack for someone over 70+ who already has had some heart procedure done? Q:Short Term Maternity Insurance Hi, I am in my 15th week of pregnancy and will be travelling to the US on a B1 / B2 visa for 45 days (13 September 2013 to 27 October 2013 both days included). At the time of travel I will be in my 19th week of pregnancy. I will return to India during my 26th week of pregnancy. Is there a maternity insurance I can buy for the above period? If so what is included and excluded? Thanks!

A:
Please look at Atlas America insurance at /atlasamerica-insurance/ It will cover complications of pregnancy (that occur after the effective date of the policy) up to 26 weeks of pregnancy. Also, please make sure you understand how the pregnancy weeks are calculated in the U.S. They are from your last menstrual period, rather than from the conception date, as the later is usually counted in India. Therefore, there is two weeks difference. hi Janice here, and I have a question. I'm in a similar situation so I found this post. I went into the page you recommended, and it says the maximum coverage is 50,000$ - isn't it too less for the complications that might occur? Complications of pregnancy within first 26 weeks of pregnancy are covered in Atlas America plan up to the chosen policy maximum. And you can choose $50,000, $100,000, $200,000, $500,000 or $1,000,000 policy maximum.
