Q:I have landed on a L1 nonimmigrant visa. The company medical costs are high and I think poor value. Do you cover individuals on a L1 visa?

A:
The short term plans we offer are only available until you are eligible for a long term plan, like the one offered by your employer, so you would need to select the plan from your employer to meet the ACA requirements. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I'm an Indian citizen. I'm in the U.S. on a B2 Visitor Visa(Currently residing in San Francisco and will be in New York from the month of May). I would like to purchase a Comprehensive medical insurance plan with zero deductibles for a period of 3 months. I am a 27 year old male and it would be even better if the plan includes coverage for the onset of pre-existing conditions as well. Please suggest a few plans so that I can choose from it and purchase one immediately! I'm already in the U.S. and I want to buy a plan that's effective immediately after I purchase it. For your information, I landed in San Francisco on the 26th of March, 2017 and have been residing here since then.

A:
There is one comprehensive plan that you can purchase today to be effective today and that is the Atlas America plan. The plan does offer the Acute onset benefit up to the chosen policy max. The plan will not cover any pre-existing condition, preventative care or routine maintenance. For example, if there was anything currently going on it would not be covered. Instead the plan would cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Hi, I am considering to book for a Cancellation insurance for a flight from Sydney Australia to Paris. The purpose of my visit is to go on vacation there with some friends. Being a student, I might change my mind depending on my classes. I would be able to confirm this decision with you a month before the flight. I am yet to book my flight but I would like to know the cost for this insurance and whether I would be refunded the whole about If the cancellation is made a month prior. Please let know my options as I would like to make this decision "very" soon. Thank you

A:
Trip cancellation insurance will cover 100% only if the trip is cancelled for a covered reason. If you are unable to go because of your classes then that would not be a covered reason. To have coverage for this you would purchase a plan that has cancel for any reason option but this will not cover 100%. The max benefit is 75% of the cost. For a quote please enter the required information in the Trip Cancellation section of our website. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am looking to buy insurance for travelling to the US this summer under a J1-Visa. The dates are not set yet as my sponsor (Microsoft) require me to buy the insurance before they begin travel arrangements. I can put down a best guess at the date I will leave the UK and the date I will arrive in the USA, but I don't know it for certain. If the date I put down turns out not to be the date I end up travelling on will it invalidate my insurance? Or alter its terms in any way?

A:
You have two options. 1. You can purchase the insurance for whatever date you know now. If there is any change in your travel dates. We can make any changes before the effective date of the policy. 2. You can also cancel the policy before the effective date. Coverage starts at 12:01AM EST. If you provide your travel dates, which state do you need coverage, your age and will be glad to send you quote by e-mail. You can also get quote online at our J1 Visa Health Insurance section on our website. Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. You can purchase any of the comprehensive plan which meets standard J1/J2 visa requirements.
