Q:Hi there, I am a U.S. citizen based in the UK. I plan on spending two months or so in the US and wanted to find out what health insurance coverage I can get. Kindest Charlotte

A:
You may purchase a few plans from the Visitors Insurance section. The Patriot America Plus and the Diplomat America plan are popular for a US citizen visiting the United States. These plans will primarily cover someone for new illnesses, injuries or accidents that either exist in the body or occur after the start date. You may purchase one of these plans online or over the phone by contacting our office at +1 (866) INSUBUY 467-8289.

Q:My parents are traveling to USA and they do have pre-existing physical conditions. They are aged 78/76 . I would like to buy medical insurance covering the most . However on the pre-existing conditions the insurance says if the person is declared fit to travel then the insurance shall cover upto some. I would like to know how to determine if my parents are declared fit. ALso would like to know which insurance is the best for my parents, if someone can share their experience that would be great.

A:
The Visitors Protect plan is the only plan that provides some pre-exsiting coverage for unexpected issues. The Fit to Travel document would be obtained from their doctors in their home country before travel. The plan must be purchased before departure from home country and would need to be purchased for the full duration of their stay as it is not extendable. The plan has a minimum purchase duration of 90 days and that first 90 days would not be refundable. Only any time purchased beyond that 90 days if no claims have been filed since the start of the policy would be eligible for a pro-rated refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. /visitors-protect-insurance/ Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:I am planning to take Visitors Protect for my mother. She is 68yrs old. She has pre existing condition and need INR blood test twice a week. Will the blood test cost covers under this insurance.

A:
No, the blood tests would not be covered under the Visitors Protect plan. That plan does include some pre-existing condition benefits as long as the person is fit to travel and not coming to the U.S. for medical treatment. Because it is already known she will need those tests, they would not be covered. The benefits are for unexpected issues. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:My daughter is a citizen of Japan. She is currently residing in the U.S. as a foreign student. Incidentally, she'll be traveling back to Japan for holiday over the summer (Jun 12 - Jul 12 and then Jul 22 - Aug 9). She doesn't have medical insurance in Japan. I would like to get Home Country Coverage for her over the periods. Can I do that and how?

A:
Since she is currently residing in the U.S. while attending school, her country of residence or home country currently is the U.S. when needing to travel outbound taking short trips back to Japan. We could recommend this plan: /patriot-international-lite-insurance/ Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
