Q:Visitor to USA pre-existing conditions I live in the UK and am coming to the USA for medical treatment (mental health) later this month. I need help finding a suitable medical insurance plan to cover me while I'm receiving treatment in the USA. My treatment in the USA will be between 6-12 months. Therefore are you able to advise me on a suitable plan? Obviously I have a pre existing mental illness and ideally I would like cover for emergency dental work. My treatment will be in Wisconsin and Oregon.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. The plans will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date of the policy. The plans will not cover you for the medical treatment you are coming to the US to receive. There is no plan on the market that will cover your current medical treatment. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Visitor insurance travel to South America I called today and spoke to Russell on the phone regarding my interest in purchasing travel medical insurance for South America for 5-6 months. I'm a Canadian citizen and I'll be flying off from Montreal (Canada) to Peru tomorrow (July 6). I have a 5 hours layover connection in Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida and I will arrive in Lima, Peru late on July 6th. Below is the option that was quoted for me by Russell. I've since gone on your website and viewed all other options/packages and Atlas seems to be offering the most competitive package at the lowest rate, as compared to what was recommended. Can you please clarify the reasons why there is such a discrepancy in the price? Please note that I am not going to USA, as that is not a destination for me but a simple layover connection for a few hours on July 6. I would like to start my medical insurance plan from July 8-December 22 when I am already in Peru. Please let me know what other options there are, and for the best rate. I am open for further discussion in order to choose the best plan for me.

Q:Insurance coverage questions Hello Is this insurance only for doctor visits? Will this also cover the expenses if this insurer is admitted in the hospital?

A:
This is a short term insurance plan. Insurance will pay for whatever treatment medically necessary as long as it’s not preventive care and pre-existing conditions. However some plan has coverage for acute onset of pre-ex. Please find more information at, /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ Please read how visitor insurance works, /how-does-visitors-insurance-work/ Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions. Hello Can you explain what Pre-notification Penalty is please? Which insurance plan are you planning to purchase? Pre-certification you need only for major hospitalization, surgery, CT Scan or MRI. For normal dr. visit you don’t need pre-certification. Pre-certification means you informing insurance company or claim dept. for the procedure you are going for. Under Patriot America plan if you don’t do pre-certification benefits will reduce 50% while in Atlas America plan there is no pre-certification requirements. More information on pre-ceritication, /visitors-insurance-precertification-requirements/ You can find more information on certificate wording for each plan.
