Q:I am planning to visit USA for two weeks, while on visit, I will be driving my friend's car (Not a rental)! Does the insurance cover me if I cause an accident?

A:
Yes, the plan would cover you medically for any new injuries. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:My parents are visiting USA. I'm looking for some visitors insurance for them. My dad is 70 & my mom is 59. I looked at your products. I'm looking for comprehensive plan. Which plan would you recommend? Though we are going to the provider from your providers list, what if they don't accept the insurance & ask us to pay upfront? That means, why are they in your providers list? If we want to buy the insurance for 3 months, then do we have to pay the whole premium at once? Can we pay on a monthly basis? If there's any claim within that 3 month period, will that claim be covered even after the plan expires? Do we have to inform you to cancel the insurance, even after the plan expires? What's the difference between HCC plans & IMG plans?

A:
We would recommend the Patriot America plan for your father and the Patriot America Plus or Atlas America for your mother. If the provider doesn't bill the plan directly you can search for a different provider or pay out of pocket and file a claim for reimbursement. The in-network providers have agreed to negotiated rates. If you enter the dates for a period of three months then that is the amount you will pay for. If you would like to purchase for one month and then renew then you enter the dates for one month. If your new illness/injury occurs during the policy period and the claim is filed timely then yes the claim would still be processed. You do not have to notify anyone to cancel if the plan expires. IMG and HCC are the administrators for the different plans. They are all rated A or better with the AM Best. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I just bought health insurance from you for my J1 visa but in the PDF I received from you says this: This insurance coverage, offered by Tokio Marine HCC through HCC Medical Insurance Services, does not meet the minimum standards required by the health care reform law Im a bit confused by this, does this mean the plan isnt enough for a J1 visa If so what do I need to do

A:
The healthcare reform laws are different than the standard J1/J2 requirements. The plans we offer meet the standard J1/J2 requirements but not the healthcare reform law (ACA) plans which would be domestic plans. This would apply to you if your sponsor is requiring you to purchase that type of plan. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I have been accepted to embark upon obtaining my Masters degree in the US commencing this August. I will be traveling on an F1 visa from the UK to NYC. I have been looking at alternative insurance providers outside of that of the school's and came across your website. In order to waive the school insurance, I am required to have "comparable" insurance to that policy. I am wondering whether you would be able to advise if you offer anything that would be suitable for me? Details of the school plan can be found here:

A:
The link provided is to view the plan offered by your school. If you are needing a plan comparable to the Aetna plan offered by your school then we would not have a plan that would meet that requirement. The Aetna plan is a domestic plan and the plans we offer are not domestic plans. The only way to have a comparable plan is to purchase the plan they offer. So now it depends on if that is what they require you to have. If there is a waiver form then we can review that to see if they will allow alternate plans. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:We are an Australian family and we will be moving to live in the USA for a year. My wife has arranged a fellowship in Boston, MA which commences in September. We will be arriving in the USA on 8 August 2016 and living in Boston until the end of the fellowship in early July and then plan to travel for a few weeks in the USA and Canada until the start of August 2017 at which time we would return to Australia. I am 39 years old, my wife is 37 years old and we have three children that will be 5, 2 and 11 months old when we arrive in the USA. I have been investigating health insurance options and got some quotes from your website for Atlas America ($4,080.44) and Patriot Platinum America ($9,080.03) policies. The quotes were based on 364 days for $1m coverage and $0 deductible. Could you please advise which policy you would recommend? Is the Patriot Platinum policy significantly better given the increase in cost? I've read some blogs of people saying that Atlas America rejected their claims. Is one insurer more reliable than the other or have better customer service? Also, we are in the process of applying for J-1 & J-2 Visas for our family and we have been advised by the agency managing this (Cultural Vistas) that we need to obtain a level of health insurance that complies with specific US government regulations.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. As a broker we provide insurance from most of the major companies in US Market. You need to purchase Patriot Exchange plan that is suitable for J1/J2 visa holder. Patriot Platinum plan has policy max. lifetime of the policy, While Patriot Exchange has policy max. per incident. Atlas America plan is also very good. But in Atlas America plan there is country restriction that insured person should not be physically located in Australia at the time of application. Please read attachment herewith. So I would suggest to go for Patriot Exchange plan. In that plan you can have max. coverage for $500k/ incident. Please review this plan and if you have any further questions feel free to contact us. You can find more plan for J1 visa insurance Please select policy max. $500k-$600k. And you can compare with other plans.

Q:Good afternoon, I am consulting some problems. Would you like to help to check about this? I am a visiting scholar in Dartmouth College with J1 visa. And my wife is J2 holder. She has been pregnant for 1 month, and we are seeking a proper insurance for us covering the maternity. So if there's a proper insurance for us to choose? Thanks. And also, we noticed that Student Health AdvantageSM Platinum might cover the maternity? is that ok for us to purchase this insurance? Because she has been pregnant for 1 month, is that ok for us to purchase to cover the maternity? Thanks, Looking forward to your letter.

A:
If she is already pregnant then unfortunately there is no insurance that will cover her pregnancy. Student Health Advantage plan will cover pregnancy as long as she conceive after the insurance eff. date.
