Q:Parent admitted to Emergency - Ins Claim My parents were visiting me in USA, my mom had to be admitted to Emergency. She stayed in hopsital for one night and was discharged next day and is doing fine. They had taken insurance from TATA AIG in India. My parents have left for India and have filed insurance claim. However now hospitals & doctors are sending me the bills, it is crossing $20,000.00. What am I supposed to do? I heard if insurance company does not pay, the hospital and doctors will go to Collection Agency and it can be a horrible situation. Any help or insights will be appreciated. Thanks & Regards.

A:
Unfortunately, this is a common experience when you purchase visitors insurance from Indian company. That is why you should always purchase it from US based company. Read buying from US vs India

Q:Patriot Platinum America Insurance Plan I am buying insurance for my parents aged 78 and 73, who are traveling to the US for 2 months. Using your site's tools, it looks like the max coverage they can get through a comprehensive plan is the Patriot Platinum Plan with $100k max. Is this the best option given their age? I am glad to hear of the fact that you actively advocate for your customers with the insurance companies. When I tried to go through the purchase process for the Patriot Platinum plan, it took me directly to the img site, it looks like. If I go through this route (online purchase) will it recognize you as the agent of record, or is that something that I need to say in the application? Thanks for a very impressive site!

A:
1. Yes, that is the best option. 2. As long as you go through this web site (https://www.insubuy.com), I will be your agent on record. 3. Thank you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.

Q:Options for Pre-existing conditions ,e.g diabetic As I understand from a number of discussions, there's not a single plan which covers Pre-existing conditions. Can anybdy tell me what are the options? Both my parents are diabetic and my dad takes insulin everyday. They are planning to visit us in few months. Should I just ask them to bring enough mediaction? Please let me know, if you guys have any suggestions?

A:
If your parents have diabetes and take insulin injections every day, they need to enough supply (and some more) when coming to the US. There is no visitors insurance plan that would such predictable and ongoing expenses because that would be a pure loss to any company and no company can afford to pay like this when you buy insurance for a short term. I can't think of any other alternative. Of course, you should still buy the insurance for new medical conditions that may be unforeseen and may occur at any time.

Q:Oriental Overseas Travel Insurance Anyone here has any experience with Oriental Overseas Travel Insurance? I have read some posts about Bajaj, Lombard, and Tata AIG but did not hear anything about Oriental Overseas Travel Insurance. Thanks! :)

A:
If you look at the very old posts at https://www.immihelp.com/visitors-insurance-reviews/ https://www.immihelp.com/forum/ you will see details about them. (When you see any comments about CORIS as well, that is them.) I don't see any comments any more about them. I guess so because not many people consider buying from them any more, when much better options are available right here in the US. I checked your website and searched for 100,000 coverage plan and I am getting inclined to this Visitor's Insurance plan for 100,000. I don't clearly understand this by reading the benefits (/visitors-care/plan/). What is 75% or URC? For medicines it gives us $250/period of coverage. That means how much will be my co-pay? Medicines is US is very costly and if it's not subsidized by the insurance company then I can only get one or 2 prescriptions drugs in this much amount. If I go to my pharmacist I pay co-pay for medicines only and sometimes that's also $40 depending on the drug and sometimes it's just $5 copay for some generics. 5,500/surgical session and I know if it's negotiated by the insurance company it's cheaper otherwise they charge a lot to an individual. Could you please clarify this? Thanks a lot for helping us here! There are two types of insurance plans: Fixed: Cheaper, limited coverage Comprehensive: More expensive, better coverage More information at /visitors-insurance/ Visitors Care is a fixed coverage plan. If you take $100,000 coverage, it will pay $85 for Dr. visit, $550 for emergency visit, $5,500 for surgery and so on. You will have to pay the difference out of your pocket. There is no concept of co-pay in visitors insurance (or any short term health insurance). When you go to the providers in the network, they will charge network negotiated fee and that would be applicable for medical benefits such as surgery, dr visit etc. However, for pharmacy, there is no network and therefore no network negotiated fees. I completely understand that $250 is a low amount for rx drugs. That is exactly why we have plans in the comprehensive category that cost more and provide better coverage. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Visitors Insurance Question Your messages have been very helpful. Thanks a lot. I have a question regarding Visitors insurance. Is it possible to buy 2 insurance policies from different companies for additional protection For example if one company denies the claim , would it be possible to use the other policy and file the claim Thanks a lot in advance for your reply.

A:
As per our discussion over the phone, that is not recommended. Visitors insurance plans are considered secondary to any other applicable plan that you may have. If you have two plans, both the companies may tell you to claim from the other one first, and finally they may settle down for the coordination of benefits where both the companies agree to pay the portion of the claim. When filing the claim with one company, you will have to provide the original paperwork to that company. If that company rejects the claim, you can't really provide the original paperwork to the other company again. Therefore, in my opinion, it would cause more problems than solve any.

Q:Atlas America vs Protection America I had a question for you. I was thinking of buying Atlas America insurance for my parents because of acute onset condition included in this policy. But then I was reading about how Hygeia network is not known to all providers. Even though their names appear on Hygeia list. I was wondering what happens when we go to them and they don't recognize the insurance company. Also, you recommended Protection america to people because doctors are more aware of First Health network. I was hesitant to buy Protection america because of another reason. They don't cover 100% after deductible when we go in network. Atlas America does. That's a big difference. Is there any other policy with First Health network that would cover 100% after deductible Thanks for your time and advice.

A:
1. Atlas America participates in Hygeia as well as First Health PPO networks. Therefore, as long as the provider recognizes either of them, you are fine. Both the logos would be printed on the id card. If they still don't accept it, you can first pay and file for reimbursement. After the deductible, it will pay 80% for first $5,000 and then 100% up to policy maximum. 2. Yes, Patriot Platinum America, at /patriot-america-platinum-insurance/ Thanks for the reply but I was wondering how can Hygeia network have names of the providers when providers do not recognize them. Isn't it wrong on Atlas America/Hygeia Network's part to have doctors listed who they don't have any agreement with. I was wondering what are your thoughts on my above question. Atlas America participates in Hygeia as well as First Health PPO networks. Therefore, as long as the provider recognizes either of them, you are fine. Both the logos would be printed on the id card. I hope that answers your questions.
