Q:I am in the US for more than 2 years. I am on OPT. My 12 Months OPT is over and now on 24 Month extension. I live in NJ and looking for an insurance. I am looking for $100,000 max coverage and $0 deductible. Can you please send me a list of hospitals where cashless facilities are available? I do not have insurance currently and my employer does not offer it.

A:
There is a plan called Atlas Exchange that we would recommend based upon your needs and your lack of previous insurance. Some plans require you to have had prior insurance so you would be disqualified from some plan available. The plans are designed to cover new accidents and new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. So if the proposed insured is sick or injured prior to the effective date of this policy it will automatically be excluded from the policy. Please be advised that typically in network providers will bill directly but that is at the discretion of the provider. Here is a helpful FAQ about "cashless" insurance in the United States. Q:I am on J-1 visa as a visiting scholar. I have to answer few questions 1. does your insurance provide lifetime/per occurrence miximums no less than $ 100000 2. does your insurance have a deductible of no more than $ 500 per accident or illness? 3. do you have co-insurance of at least 75% of covered medical expenses? 4. does your insurance provide $ 50000 for medical evacuation to your home country? 5. does your insurance provide $ 25000 for repatriation of remains? I have brought one insurance policy from Sri Lanka and it covers $50000 and only $ 4000 in item 5. What is your solution to this?

A:
We offer plans that will meet the requirements as listed. The plans in our J1/J2 section of our website are specifically created to meet at the minimum the state department of insurance requirements and then several more that exceed those requirements. We have several Atlas series plans that will meet the requirements you have listed and you can review the plan information by clicking on the links provided below. Q:Do the Schengen insurance plans include a general doctors visit just to do a check up?

A:
Short term plans will cover the new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. The plans will not cover for preventative checkups, this is an expense you will have to pay for out of pocket. If you need any further clarifications please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am a J1 scholar attached to University of North Carolina ,Chapel Hill NC.As per the conversation with customer care representative I am attaching the compliance form. Can you please let me know whether Atlas essential is compatible with that. The cover should include spouse and children.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The Atlas Essential does not meet the requirements as listed, specifically the pre-existing coverage waiting period. The Atlas Essential does not provide any benefits for pre-existing. The Atlas Exchange 6 month plan will meet the requirements. Q:I am very interested in Patriot America (Plus) for myself and my 10 month old daughter. I am currently staying in Puerto Rico on a K1 Finance Visa and am a citizen of Australia. I read that if postal address/home country is Australia then I cannot apply. In the case that I am staying in Puerto Rico now, may I purchase and be covered on this insurance?

A:
The Patriot America Plus plan doesn't have a restriction for Australia so you would be eligible to purchase it. Since your daughter has dual citizenship, US and Australia then she would not be eligible for that same plan. You would have to look for a long term domestic plan for her since there wouldn't be any short term options that she would be eligible for. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
