Q:General A2 Insurance Questions Dear support, Kindly, I would like to get a complete understanding of the below scenarios..If you can reply next to each question in red color. I need please to make sure all information you send me are true..You can take your time in replying..I am new to US and want to have a complete understanding in order to follow rules in US. Some questions are general 1- As we know there is temporary health insurance and major medical insurance. Do Normal health insurance I see on your website when I compare plans have worldwide insurance or only within US? I mean if I went outside US for vacation and in case of emergency, I am covered or only I am covered within US? 2- US Citizens or Green Card Holders should Obligatory go with major medical health insurance in there state as temporary Health insurance are not allowed in that case ( 1 option only) ..Correct, Yes or No? 3- Legal resident in US who pay taxes but they are not US citizen or Green card holders, who are working in a company and pay taxes, are obligatory to go with normal insurance by their state or they can go with temporary short term insurance ( 2 options they have or only 1 option ) 4- Legal residents in US who don't pay taxes because as my situation I have A2 visa...I work in my embassy..I have been recruited by my government to work in the embassy in D.C, in my case I have 2 options going either normal insurance or temporary insurance.. correct? 6- let's continue in my case and if I go with temporary insurance ( short term ) renewable yearly, what advantages and disadvantages comparable to Normal insurance. What i noticed that Normal insurance are more expensive than temporary and nearly they have the same benefits.. 7- let's say my status in future here have been changed, either I change job to an american company ( start paying tax ), should I stop the temporary insurance as it is not legal to go with temporary insurance or I can stay with it? Thank you so much Regards,

A:
Hello, Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Please see the answers to your questions listed below in bold font. __________________________________________________________________________ 1- As we know there is temporary health insurance and major medical insurance. Do Normal health insurance I see on your website when I compare plans have worldwide insurance or only within US? I mean if I went outside US for vacation and in case of emergency, I am covered or only I am covered within US? Most domestic insurance plans will cover you very minimally outside of the United States and will more likely than not, be a reimbursement type of coverage. So this would require you to pay out of pocket for any expenses and file a claim when you arrive stateside. Upon purchasing a domestic insurance you will have to confirm your international coverage with that company. 2- US Citizens or Green Card Holders should Obligatory go with major medical health insurance in there state as temporary Health insurance are not allowed in that case ( 1 option only) ..Correct, Yes or No? Any U.S. Citizen or Permanent resident is required to have an PPACA compliant plan. Tax penalties will be assessed for not having a compliant plan. 3- Legal resident in US who pay taxes but they are not US citizen or Green card holders, who are working in a company and pay taxes, are obligatory to go with normal insurance by their state or they can go with temporary short term insurance ( 2 options they have or only 1 option ) In short, if you are living and paying taxes in the United States you are required to have a PPACA compliant plan to avoid penalties there is no alternative option. Please check with a tax professional or CPA for more information about this. 4- Legal residents in US who don't pay taxes because as my situation I have A2 visa...I work in my embassy..I have been recruited by my government to work in the embassy in D.C, in my case I have 2 options going either normal insurance or temporary insurance.. correct? Essentially if you have a social security number then you are eligible to enroll into a domestic insurance plan. If you do not have a social short term plans would be available. As an A2 if your sponsoring organization is offering you coverage under a domestic plan then you are able to enroll. If you do not have a social security number and your organization doesn’t offer you domestic insurance then you are not able to enroll on your own. 6- let's continue in my case and if I go with temporary insurance ( short term ) renewable yearly, what advantages and disadvantages comparable to Normal insurance. What i noticed that Normal insurance are more expensive than temporary and nearly they have the same benefits.. Short vs long term polices have many differences. Long term domestic insurance plans will cover what is called the 10 essential health benefits that are required to be PPACA compliant like pre-existing conditions, preventative care , ambulatory coverages etc… As domestic insurance plan have no restrictions or limitations on coverages they are going to be more expensive because of the many benefits that these plans will offer. Short-term plans will ONLY cover new accidents and new illness that happen after the effective date of the policy. Anything related to a pre-existing condition will be excluded from the policy. These plans will also not include preventative care and medication related to pre-existing conditions among others. Short term plans are exempt from offering the 10 essential health benefits so these plans will be less expensive because they have more restrictions and will have limitations on coverage 7- let's say my status in future here have been changed, either I change job to an american company ( start paying tax ), should I stop the temporary insurance as it is not legal to go with temporary insurance or I can stay with it? Upon adjustment of status you will be required to purchase a domestic insurance plan as you will no longer be eligible for international plans and maybe liable for tax penalties.
