Q:I am a US citizen currently living as an ex-pat in Italy. I plan to return to the USA in Feb 2020 with my Italian wife and my son (who is a US citizen). I've been looking at all the different insurance plans on your site and it is a bit confusing as to which plan or option I should choose since I am an ex-pat and my wife is a new immigrant etc. Could you please help me choose? My wife will be entering the US for the first time. I am not a resident in the US anymore and the last state I lived in was Michigan, but we will be moving to California and we don't have a fixed address there yet (doing AirBnb for the first month until we find something to rent). So I thought we needed to buy travel/visitors health insurance to cover us until the open enrollment period at the end of 2020 for California. Can I get the domestic insurance for my family after a short while if I am new to the state? Should I just buy the travel insurance for the first few months or so?

A:
Unfortunately, as you all are moving to the United States and not coming for a visit you are not considered a visitor. When you arrive you may qualify for a special enrollment period for an individual plan on the market place. However, there are no plans that we can offer to you.

Q:I'm writing regarding a medical insurance I'd like to buy, so I could provide it to a French embassy in order to get a long-term visa (for a year long). I was told that it is possible to buy an insurance plan from you and I could get a 100% refund while the insurance is effective, should I not be awarded my visa and provided a visa letter.

A:
There is not a plan that you can purchase the will provide you with 100% refund if the plan has already effective. You would be subject to the same cancellation stipulations as anyone else that has purchased the plan. A full refund will only be issued prior to the effective date of the policy. Q:I'm trying to get information on how to deal with a travel issue. I have a train and hotel booked through Eurostar on Thursday the 19th of December, but the transit strike in France has disrupted the ability to get those trains. Eurostar is not responding to customers, and the hotel booked through them refuses to do anything saying that changes must be done through Eurostar. Might you know what I can do about this? I've sent multiple requests to Eurostar over the past 3 days and I cannot get any answers. Is this a claim I can make with Insubuy if Eurostar takes my money and refuses to do anything (I mean, they already have my money). Thank you so much for your help and any info you can share to resolve this.

A:
Please be advised that the Schengen Insurance plan you have does not include trip benefits outside of lost luggage. It is primarily for medical coverage and to meet Schengen requirements. For future reference, we do have Trip insurance plans that can cover that type of situation and they can be found here: Trip Insurance However, any plan purchased now will not cover something already occurring before coverage was in place. The plans are for unexpected things that happen after the policy is active. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

We do offer trip insurance plans which can cover for trip cancellation for specific reasons. You may view plans at get quotes here. These plans do include some medical insurance coverage as well.
