Q:My father who is 75 will be visiting me in New York for 35 days in the summer. I am looking for short-term health insurance to cover any unexpected illness during the stay, inclusive of his pre-exisiting illness (high blood pressure). He will be using B1/B2 visa, arriving July 26 and leaving on Aug.29.

A:
The plan we would recommend is the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive. We have emailed the quotes for the available plans. Plans will cover any new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. The Safe Travels USA Comprehensive is one of the only plans that also include the Acute Onset benefit for someone over the age of 70. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:My mother-in-law has arrived to the US from Bosnia about 2 months ago. We have been looking to get her insurance while she is here. She will be here until end of September. She is currently 65 years old. She is In Missouri. Can you please provide me detailed coverage that is available to her and the price?

A:
We have sent you a separate email quote for the available plans for her visit. Please be advised that the plan cover the new accidents and new illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy. If there is currently anything going on with her it will not be covered under the plan even under the acute onset coverage as the plans are designed to cover the new accidents and new illnesses that happen after the effective date of the policy. If you have any questions about the available plans do not hesitate to contact our office.

Q:I am going to start teaching in a school in Oregon next year. I am a public servant here in Spain so I have all medical insurance coverage required for the J-1 visa. I only need the "repatriation of remains up to $25,000". I have calculated my quote being 43 years old, but I can't calculate my spouse's quote being 58 years old now. Could you help me with that?

A:
The plan that offers just the repatriation and medical evacuation is for insureds up to 50 years old so your wife is not eligible. The alternative is to purchase a low cost plan from the J1/J2 section and have that for the repatriation benefit.
