Q:My friend got diagnosed with HIV. Because he is an international student from China, he wonders whether he can buy health insurance so that he can cover parts of medicare expenses. Do you have any plans that are suitable for him? And what's the monthly fee of the insurance plan? Can international students buy health insurance? Will it cover the costs of HIV medicines?

A:
Your friend will need to contact his school to see if they are offering a domestic plan for students. The domestic plans are the only plans that may cover his current diagnosis since no short term plan for students will cover a pre-existing condition. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I need to buy Visitor Insurance for my guests for 6 months. Do the plans mentioned in the Insubuy cover OPD and Hospitalization as well? I need it for 5 months. Is there any deal or discount that I can make use of before buying the deal?

A:
The plans available will cover anything that is medically necessary for and new accident or new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. Plans do not cover pre-existing conditions, preventative care or scheduled treatment. All plans are regulated by law so no discounts can be offered for plan options. A:
The Patriot Exchange Program will allow for your J2 dependent to enroll on their own but the Student Secure Select plan will require the J1 to enroll on the policy as well. Please review these plan options and contact our office if you need any assistance.

Q:I'm looking for medical insurance for my 70 year old relative who will land in US on March 19th and leave on June 5th, 2016. She will not be travelling to any other country. She had open heart surgery in 2014 and takes medications since. She had cataract surgery in 2015 and takes eye drops. Please let me know, what plans would cover, if any of these conditions reoccur.

A:
There is no short term insurance for an international visitor which covers routine dr. visit, checkup, preventive care, medicine or blood test etc. for the existing conditions. However, some plans cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions below age 70. Your visitor will not be eligible for that benefit. Insurance will pay for whatever treatment medically necessary as long as it's not pre-existing or preventive care. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us at (866)INSUBUY

Q:I am looking for a travel insurance for my dad who is planning to visit me in the USA from India. My father (72yrs) has wet macular degeneration in both his eyes and was taking injections for the same. He is currently off the regular injections except once in a while if his doctor feels the need based on monthly OCT scans. His current doctor has advised him to do regular OCT scans to check if any issues arise that may require further injections to prevent the condition from getting any worse. One eye is beyond repair and current scans are only for the other eye. I am trying to figure out how I can continue his OCT scans while he is with us in the USA. Could you please let me know what kind of insurance I need to purchase and what kind of coverage he would get specifically for monthly OCT scan(one eye) (how much would he need to pay out of pocket) and in case he needs an injection in one eye (Accentrix / Lucentis) (how much would he need to pay out of pocket).

A:
As you know we provide insurance from many companies. None of the short term plan for an international visitors will cover routine maintenance or dr. visit for the existing conditions. We have many plans that covers acute onset of pre-existing conditions for below age 70yrs. 70+ none of the insurance will cover acute onset of pre-ex. At most max. you will get $2500 for sudden and unexpected recurrence of pre-ex but that plan will also not cover his OCT scan , injection or dr. visit. If something major happens $2500 is nothing compare to huge medical bill. So that benefits will only for your mental satisfaction. In short for age 70+. You will purchase insurance for some new injuries, accident or sickness. Anything related to his existing conditions will be excluded and if you want to visit dr. for his current conditions you will be responsible 100%. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.
