Q:My fiance and I want to have a family celebration in Chicago. That's where I'm from. He's from England. His father is late 60's and 5 years ago he had a heart attack. He hasn't had any issues since, and he's in good health. He's looked into coverage to go to the US in December, but he can only find very expensive coverage. Around 1,800! I want to know what sort of coverage sod you offer him and my soon to be mother-in-law (she's never had any medical problems)? My fiance and I live in Hong Kong, so I don't have insurance in the States that I can use or get info from. Please let me know what it would cost to cover both of them?

A:
As a broker, we provide insurance from many companies. But unfortunately, there is no short term plan for an international visitor which cover routine maintenance or preventive care for the pre-existing. However, some plans has coverage for acute onset of pre-ex below age 70 yrs. You can find more information at Acute Onset of Pre-existing Conditions on our website. Please visit our website and enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans, you can narrow by with pre-ex coverage and compare them side by side. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions while reviewing the policy information. If you provide their travel date, exact age and which state do they need coverage will be glad to send you quote by e-mail.

Q:The Navigator Student Plan is the only one that meets the coverage I need? Unlimited benefit per Policy Year The deductible does not exceed $75.00 per injury/illness $ 50,000 Minimum coverage for Evacuation Expenses to your home country if necessary $ 25,000 Minimum coverage for Repatriation of Remains to your home country in case of death.

A:
That's correct because your school is asking for unlimited benefit other plans have max. limit like $200k, or $500k etc.

Q:Can you please elaborate what does this mean 'policy not to have a waiting period for pre-existing conditions'?

A:
The plans that are available for coverage will have anywhere from a 6-12 month waiting period for pre-existing conditions. Your Universities requirements does not allow for a waiting period on your insurance for pre-existing conditions. That would make the available plans not compliant with the requirements the University has so you would not be able to purchase them as the school would reject your coverage.

Q:My name is Aresha and I just had a conversation with you a while ago regarding my medical insurance plan. Sir I need an insurance plan for a minimum of 1 year to fulfill my university requirement with minimum monthly installments. I have mentioned the universities basic requirements according to which I need the plan. Northwestern University insurance requirements To qualify for a waiver, supplied health insurance must, at a minimum, meet the following requirements: - Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness - Coverage for repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000 (does not apply to B1 visa holders) - $50,000 for expenses associated with medical evacuation - Deductible not to exceed $250 per accident or illness - Co-insurance provision can be no greater than 25% - Out-of-pocket expenses not to exceed $2,000 per year - Pre-existing conditions must be covered (no exclusions, no waiting period) - Mental health - Shall not unreasonably exclude coverage for perils inherent to the activities of the program in which the exchange visitor participates - Must include inpatient and outpatient coverage for both sickness and accident - Will cover at least 80% of usual and customary charges in the Chicago area - Shall provide benefits for prescription drugs, and pregnancy. Sir, I would be really obliged if I could receive the plan ASAP since I need to submit it to my University to get approval.

A:
After reviewing the requirements we have determined there are no plans available, as your University requires the policy not to have a waiting period for pre-existing conditions. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:My husband and I are going to the University of Florida next August as Research Scholars, for one year, each one with a J-1 visa. We are trying to buy insurance that complies with US government requirements for J-1 visa holders (medical benefits and repatriation). My husband is 69 years old while I am 67 years old. Could you give me information on plans that suit us both? I also would like some information regarding: 1. What is the monthly payment? Or we need to pay at once. 2. What are the benefits? (that is, what are we covered for?) . For instance, if I need to go to a doctor, how much the plan covers... and so on.

A:
You can purchase Atlas America or Atlas Essential Comprehensive plan. Would like to know that your husband will turns 70 while his stay over here. In that case he will not be eligible for Inbound USA plan. You can compare these plans at the J1 Visa Health Insurance section on our website. We have sent you quote in a separate e-mail also. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
