Q:My wife and I are new Green Card holders, who spend much of the year in the US but do travel back to Canada for 3 - 5 months per year. We pay taxes in the US and I have worked part time for a US company under a TN visa for 3.5 years. I have paid into Social Security for over 8 years, but will not qualify for Medicare until December 2021. Our current ages are 68 (John) and 67 (Christine). Up until now we have been covered under the Canadian Health Ins. program with a travel supplement, however as of next month we will need US Health coverage to take us thru the next two years until we are eligible for Medicare. We are both in good health and would like to talk with someone who is knowledgeable in our best options. Thanks

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The Bridge plan is available to a green card holder that is not eligible for Medicare. Once they become eligible they will need to at that time enroll. In order to receive a quote you will have to submit an application for coverage as this plan is underwritten for coverage and rates determined accordingly. Typically if someone is eligible for Medicare Part A they will be able to enroll into Part B as well and will need to do so. The application for the Bridge plan is attached within this email for your review. If you need receipts for previous plans you will need to send an email with the certificate numbers of the policy you need. If you need any additional assistance please contact our office.

Q:I was looking at quotes for your travel insurance plans and wanted to ask a question regarding the Safe Travels USA plan. If I look at the trip insurance version there is a description stating that a pre existing waiver is available as long as it is within 30 days of final trip payment. When I look at just the only the medical trip insurance for Safe Travels USA premium it only covers acute onset pre existing conditions. Could you clarify this? Additionally, if a pre existing waiver exists for the trip insurance version of safe travels, does this also remove the section in the certificate stating there is only $1000 coverage for the unexpected pre existing condition? Basically I want to make sure that pre existing conditions are covered to the policy maximum if a waiver is given.

A:
The trip insurance plan offers the pre-existing waiver with the 30 day condition, and the Travel medical Insurance plan does not. The $1,000 unexpected re occurrence benefit comes only with the Safe Travels USA Cost Saver plan. If you want to have coverage for pre-existing conditions, the Trip plan with the waiver would provide more coverage. However, trip insurance plans have length of trip restrictions. You will want to review those timeframes. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am planning to visit USA with my spouse. I would like to take travel/health insurance policy to cover my stay in USA. However, I have the below questions and request to clarify please. Will the plan cover cancellation of our trip, due to any unforeseen circumstances?

A:
There are 2 types of insurance. Travel Medical Insurance can cover for new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date of the policy. Some of these plans can include lost luggage benefits as well as trip interruption, but they are not for trip cancellation. The Travel Medical plans for visitors can be found here through the quote link:Visitors Insurance There are also Trip Insurance plans. These cover for trip cancellation, and can include some medical benefits as well. I have attached the Trip Insurance quote link below for those plans for you to review. Q:What is Plan A and Plan B in visitors care? It did not come up in quote but when we went to pay the dues. Also what does Budget, Standard and superior options mean?

A:
Visitors Care - Plan A = $25,000 policy maximum, Plan B = $50,000 policy maximum There is also Plan C which is $100,000 policy maximum. I believe you are referring to Visit USA-Healthcare plan. Budget= Fixed Coverage Plan Standard = $75,000 or $200,000 policy maximum Superior= $250,000 policy maximum
