Q:After studying all plans offered for J1 visitors I've decided to purchase ATLAS-AMERICA. For me it would be important: 0 dollar deductible and max. of all benefits: 500.000 (at least) There are two things to ask: 1. According the J1 visa requirements Medical Evacuation have to meet 50.000 dollars, while as I saw this policy does not exceed 25.000. 2. I would like to ask that does the policy cover dental? If not, which policy should cover even dental? Can you offer for me a policy which meet the requirements listed above?

A:
The Emergency Medical Evacuation benefit for the Atlas America is $1,000,000 not $25,000 so it exceeds the requirement. Medical plans do not include dental benefits so it's not possible to get a plan to include that. We offer a separate dental discount plan, Careington.

Q:I am already in USA as a visitor, but I am planning to extend my stay and travel to Canada and back to USA within next few months. Therefore I am planning to purchase the insurance for approximately 6 months. My question is that can I still buy insurance when I am already in USA? And I would like to have a terms and condition and policy details of the insurance before I make a purchase.

A:
You are able to purchase a plan although you are currently located in the United States. In the initial quoting screen you will need to select the time frame in which you arrived into the United States. You will need to look for a plan that will be valid in the United States as well as Canada as not all plans will be available internationally. Upon selecting a plan the coverage details for each plan will be available there on the website to include the legal certificate wording for each plan. If there are particular questions for a plan that you would like to ask about please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Q:I will be an Exchange Visitor (J1) in the US from the 1st of December 2017 to the 7th of July 2018. My family will also be with me as J2 dependents. Being an Exchange Visitor there are some minimal requirements what the insurance has to meet. These are the next: 1. Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per accident or illness; 2. Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000; 3. Expenses associated with medical evacuation of the exchange visitor to his or her home country in the amount of $50,000; and 4. A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness. I'd like to add that in case of my two children (aged 4 in January 2018) we would like to add to their basic policy even a kind of extra policy. I would be calmer if they would be covered by a higher priced insurance, in case of any fortuitous illness . So, making our quote, please remember that they should be covered better. In the light of these conditions I'm asking what kind of insurance can you offer for us?

A:
As long as your sponsor doesn't have any additional requirements then the plans in the J1/J2 Visa Health Insurance section of our website will meet the basic requirements as listed. The plans that the J2 would be eligible to purchase alone would not offer any additional coverage than what you can purchase together. The coverage that is offered will vary from plan to plan. If you would like for us to send you the quotes please provide your country of citizenship and the state you will be staying in the US. You can also call our office to speak with an agent.

Q:I am 74 but I do not really have a preexisting condition. I take synthroid and two metoprolol (25 mg) daily. What will be considered pre-existing conditions? I will want this coverage every year for 6 months.

A:
Plans are designed to cover anything new that happens after the effective date of the policy. Anything that manifested itself in the body prior to the effective date of the policy will be considered a pre-existing condition.
